The Assam state committee of the CPI(M) has submitted a memorandum to the home secretary, ministry of home affairs, government of India on July 4, seeking amendments to the Foreigners (Tribunal) Amendment Order, 2019, to ensure justice to the concerned people. TELANGANA: CPI(M) Holds Extended State Committee Meeting

TELANGANA committee of the CPI(M) has organised an extended state committee meeting of the Party on July 9, at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram in Hyderabad. Party general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau members, Prakash Karat and B V Raghavulu attended the meeting. It was presided over by Ch Seetharamulu, Central Committee member of the Party.

Tripura: Nomination Filing Marred By Violence

THE process of filing nomination papers for the three tier panchayat elections in Tripura concluded on July 8 with widespread incidents of violence. The state election commission here, as was apprehended in an earlier column, completely failed to provide security and an atmosphere of free and fair election to the opposition.

The figures of candidates from different political parties themselves are proof enough to show how the opposition has been barred from taking part in the election.

Stop Eviction of Tribals

FOUR organisations, (Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch, Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Mahasabha, Campaign for Survival and Dignity and Bharat Jan Andolan) with lakhs of members from adivasi communities have written a letter to Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, seeking his intervention to stop the attacks on tribals and forest dwellers by the central government. TELANGANA: CPI(M) Opposes Construction of New Assembly, Secretariat Buildings

THE CPI(M) has condemned the decision of the TRS government in Telangana to demolish a 150-year-old heritage structure and construct a new secretariat building at Erra Manzil. CPI(M) state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said the funds earmarked for the construction of the new secretariat building should be used for various welfare schemes. Buildings in the old secretariat are fully equipped for smooth functioning of the state legislature and administration, he added.

KERALA: LDF Scores an Emphatic Victory in LSG By-polls

DISMISSING all hate campaign against CPI (M) and LDF government, more than 75,000 people across 44 local self government bodies have given an emphatic victory to the ruling front in the by-elections held on June 28. LDF has won 22 seats out of 44 seats across 13 districts in the state. UDF has won 17 seats and BJP won five. LDF wrested eight seats from the opposition UDF.

CPI(M) Delegation meets Family of Tabrez Ansari

A FIVE member ‘fact finding’ team including Prakash Viplav and Sufal Mahto, state secretariat members of CPI(M), AIDWA leader Rangowati Devi and secretaries of Sariakela and East Singhbhum district committees of CPI(M) in Jharkhand state, visited Kadamdih village under Sariakela Kharsawa district and met family of Mohammad Tabrez Ansari. Tabrez Ansari who was just 22 years old, he was killed by a mob a few days ago. This is the 18th mob violence victim in Jharkhand in last three years.

ON July 2, two-day national consultation of land and forest rights movements organised by Bhoomi Adhikar Andolan concluded at the Assam Association in Delhi. The conference witnessed the participation of more than 200 representatives of the community organisations from 12 states of the country.

AP: Draft Law to Curb Crimes in the name of Honour & Tradition

A CONSULTATION meeting was held at Vijayawada on ‘Crimes in the name of Honour and Tradition (Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation) Bill’ on June 29 by the KVPS AP state committee, an affiliate of the Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch. Advocates of AP High court, leaders of KVPS and other dalit organisations attended the meeting that was presided over by Potturi Suresh Kumar. Sunkari Rajendra Prasad, member of AP Bar Council and one of the five member team that drafted the bill has explained in detail the salient features in it.
