Assam: Foundational Pillars of Constitution Facing Constant Attack

THE four foundational pillars of our Constitution are facing constant attack under the BJP-led government at the centre. Under prime minister Modi's dispensation, every single foundational pillar of the Constitution has come under attack, CPI(M) general secretary, Sitaram Yechury, said in Guwahati on December 26.He was addressing a huge gathering to mark the conclusion of the birth centenary celebrations of renowned freedom fighter and one of the founders of the communist movement in Assam, Nandeswar Talukdar (1921-2003).

ALL India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), Sushila Gopalan Memorial Trust and India School of Women’s Studies and Development,  jointly held the Sushila Gopalan memorial lecture on December 19, 2021, at Bhubaneswar in Odisha.Thomas Isaac, former Kerala finance minister delivered the memorial lecture on the subject ‘Addressing Challenges before Women in the Neo-liberal Era: The Kerala Experience’. He spoke about the extremely adverse impact of the Covid pandemic on women based on the report of a survey of 1,75,000 households in the country.

Punjab: In Memory of Comrade Surjeet, Govt Dedicated Three projects

THE chief minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi, dedicated three projects to the people in Jalandhar on December 24. These projects are in the memory of great freedom fighter, prominent communist leader & long time general secretary of CPI(M), Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet at his native village Bundala Manjhki ( Jalandhar). The chief minister placed a 'Harkishan Singh Surjeet Marg'(name of the road) plaque on the road from Barapind to  Jandiala. Comrade Surjeet was once elected as an MLA from Barapind constituency.

ON December 24, Agartala, the capital city of Tripura, witnessed a web of red flags elevated high by thousands of kisans to celebrate victory of the year-long kisan struggle in the country and to press for the urgent issues that the peasantry of the state has been striving hard to settle. There is no alternative to a sustained united struggle to overthrow the anti-peasant, anti-worker RSS-BJP government that has been foisted on the people of Tripura through hoax promises.

TRIPURA Rajya UpajatiGanamukti Parishad (GMP) observed the 77th formation day of Janashiksha Samityon December 27 to remember the pivotal role the organisation made in promoting literacy among the Tribal youth of Tripura. A meeting was held in Agartala Town Hall to mark the day.The former chief minister and Polit Bureau member, Manik Sarkar said the embryo of GMP developed into the womb of Janashiksha Samity. Tribal-nontribal unity surged in the state in spite of sectarian provocations because of the GMP.
