Condolence Meeting for Com Vijender Sharma Held

WITH a resolve to carry on Comrade Vijender Sharma’s unfulfilled tasks, a condolence meeting on August 14 paid homage to the departed comrade. Hundreds of Party workers, members of the intelligentsia, Delhi University teachers participated in the meeting held at the Constitution Club in New Delhi. The meeting adopted a condolence resolution moved by the Delhi state committee secretary PMS Grewal. K M Tiwari conducted the proceedings.

Comrade Vijender Sharma

COMRADE Vijender Sharma, secretariat member of the CPI(M) Delhi state committee and veteran leader of the university and college teachers’ movement passed away on August 9, 2014 after bravely battling cancer for over eight months. He was 63. His demise is an irreparable loss to both the Party and the university and college teachers’ movement.

Comrade Chitta Chanda Is No More

EMINENT freedom fighter, permanent invitee member of CPI(M) Tripura state committee and former chairman of the Party’s state control commission, Comrade Chitta Chanda passed away at 5.40pm on July 28 at Agartala Government Medical College Hospital. He was 95. He was a bachelor. Comrade Chitta Chanda was suffering from age related diseases for quite some time. He was admitted to the hospital in the night of July 20. CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Manik Sarkar, CPI(M) state secretary Bijan Dhar and other secretariat members regularly visited the hospital for the updates on his condition.

Comrade Joni Tiru

Comrade Joni Tiru, local committee secretary of Namkum (West), Ranchi district, who had struggled against the land mafia all his life, was brutally murdered by miscreants. He was also secretary of Sodag Gram Sabha. The gram pradhan of Sodag, Kailash Khoya was also murdered.

Comrade Alluru Satyanarayana

VETERAN CPI(M) leader, freedom fighter and trade union leader Comrade Alluru Satyanarayana passed away in Hyderabad on 04th July. He was 86 years old and is survived by his wife Alluru Manmohani (Ammaji), a prominent AIDWA leader and three daughters. His body was brought to Party state headquarters M B Bhavan and kept for two hours when scores of activists came and paid their homage to the departed leader. CPI(M) Polit Bureau member B V Raghavulu placed the Red flag on the body and paid his homage.

Comrade K L Bajaj

THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses its deep grief at the death of Comrade K L Bajaj, member of the Central Committee of the party and a veteran trade union leader of Maharashtra. Aged 78, Bajaj died after a short illness in Mumbai today.
Comrade Bajaj joined public life through the Revolutionary Communist Party of India. He joined the CPI(M) in 1964. Bajaj had participated in the movement for the liberation of Goa from Portuguese occupation and was arrested.

Namdev Dhasal

THROUGH a statement issued on January 15, 2014, by its general secretaries Murali Manohar Prasad Singh and Chanchal Chauhan, the Janvadi Lekhak Sangh (JLS) expressed its deep sense of grief over the demise of Namdev Dhasal, renowned Marathi writer of dalit literature. He was seriously ill since September 2013, was in a Mumbai hospital for treatment and the doctors had diagnosed him as suffering from a kind of cancer. He breathed his last on Wednesday, January 15.
