For A Strong CPI(M) With An All-India Mass Base

THE 22nd Congress of the CPI(M) held in Hyderabad discussed how to build a strong party with an all-India mass base  – the goal set out by the Kolkata Plenum on Organisation held in December 2015.  The Political-Organisational Report presented to the Congress reviewed the implementation of the organisational tasks set out by the Plenum.

The Plenum had pointed out that the expansion of the Party and its mass base requires the stepping up of the class and mass struggles conducted by the Party and the mass organisations.  There have been serious efforts in this direction. 

Hyderabad Festival Held on the Occasion of CPI(M) 22nd Congress

HYDERABAD is home to many historical and cultural glories. Reflecting some of them, the Hyderabad Fest 2018 is being held at NTR Stadium from April 13-22. Featuring theme-pavilions surrounding tourism, education, public sector undertaking, financial institutions, literature and specific sites catering to cultural performances besides short film fests, art and photography exhibitions, Hyderabad Fest 2018 has it all. Spoorthi Progressive Society, spearheaded by its honorary chairman Chukka Ramaiah is organising this ten-day fest.

State Conference Takes Pledge to Regain Lost Glory of CPI(M) in Punjab

THE 22ND Punjab State Conference of the CPI(M) successfully concluded in Mahilpur in Hoshiarpur district on April 11. The conference gave a clarion call to regain the lost glory of the Party in Punjab by strengthening the organisation at grassroots level and drawing the youth, women and Dalits to it in a big way. The Party in Punjab will launch concerted agitational programmes on the issues of unemployment, drug menace and increasing atrocities against women and Dalits in the state.

Heed the federal framework

MOST federations in the world have arrangements for the mobilisation and devolution of resources. In India, the constitution provides for the appointment of a finance commission every five years to recommend methodology to share resources such that the fiscal space of the constituents, especially the states, is well protected.
