Employment Crisis in West Bengal: A Decade of TMC Governance

AMIDST the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent series of sporadic lockdowns, the loss of lives and livelihoods in West Bengal has exposed the inherent economic crises that the state’s economy is undergoing. The massive influx of poor migrant workers returning back to the state, seeking help and support from the authorities, has become an unfortunate reality in recent times.

Comrade Maruti Manpade

THE All India Kisan Sabha, in a statement issued on October 20, paid tributes to the memory of Comrade Maruti Manpade who passed away at Solapur on 20th morning due to Covid related complications. He was 65 years old. A militant leader of the All India Kisan Sabha, presently vice president of Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha affiliated to AIKS, he worked for a long time as its president. He has been a member of the Central Kisan Committee for long and was also a member of the All India Kisan Council till his death. He was earlier a state secretariat member of the CPI(M).

Gross Inaccuracies in Police Records on Delhi Riots

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat, called attention to inaccuracies in the police account of those who were killed in the communal violence in Delhi in February.In a letter to S N Srivastava, Delhi Commissioner of Police, on October 15, she highlighted that the police have, in various public statements and affidavits to the court, stated that the number of killed was 53 and omitted the name of one Sikander, son of Md Mullak.Brinda Karat said that Sikander was killed on February 27, the day of violence and in his inquest papers stated “alleged history of being found in unconscious stat

Bihar: CPI(M) Releases Election Manifesto

ELECTION manifesto for the Bihar elections was released in the state party office by the CPI(M) state secretary, Awadesh Kumar. Along with him, Arun Mishra, Sarvodaya Sharma, Rampari and Ganesh Shankar Singh were also present. A party's website and an app were also released in the same press conference. Awadesh Kumar placed the relevance of the present election in the state and the imminent need for the defeat of the JD(U) & BJP alliance.

Another Flawed Intervention of the Central Government in J & K

Militarising the Quad at US behest

THE forthcoming Malabar exercises in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal in November will feature all the four countries of the quadrilateral grouping (Quad) – the United States, India, Japan and Australia. The Malabar exercises had begun as joint exercises of the Indian and US navies in the early 1990s. In recent years, it has become trilateral with Japanese participation.Only once in 2007, did Australia and Singapore join the Malabar exercises in the Bay of Bengal.
