THE war that the US and Israel launched on Iran on 28th February has entered its 12th day. With this war, the world is facing a rupture not only in oil and gas supplies from the region but also in feedstock for fertilisers, critical to agriculture. It has now become clear that the Modi government is bending over backwards to fulfil the demands of US on a whole range of policy issues, to the detriment of Indian people. The latest, and perhaps the most shameful, episode in this saga is the announcement by various Trump administration officials that India has been ‘allowed’ to buy Russian oil for 30 days.
