AIKS Bihar State Conference

THE 37th AIKS Bihar state conference, held at Nawada from November 11-13, 2022, gave a call for intensifying struggles on land, MSP legal guarantee and other burning peasant issues and for strengthening the organisation manifold, with the objective of combating the anti-people, pro-corporate and communal BJP-RSS regime at the centre.
The conference was held in Comrade Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Nagar, named after the great freedom fighter and respected Left and kisan leader who hailed from this district.
It began with a large public meeting which was presided over by AIKS state president, Lalan Choudhary. The speakers were AIKS general secretary, Hannan Mollah, president, Ashok Dhawale, joint secretary, Vijoo Krishnan, state secretary Vinod Kumar, state leaders Awadhesh Kumar, Ajay Kumar, MLA, Rajendra Prasad Singh, Ramjatan Singh, AIAWU state secretary, Bhola Prasad Diwakar, and Naresh Chandra Sharma.
The delegate session was attended by 308 delegates, including 14 women, from 33 districts. After the flag hoisting and floral tributes to martyrs, the conference was inaugurated by Hannan Mollah.
The report was placed by Vinod Kumar. The AIKS in Bihar has led constant struggles on land and many other issues. There have been several martyrs in land struggles. Even to retain their land, peasants have had to fight bitter struggles. The AIKS also played a leading role in Bihar in support of the historic SKM struggle against the three farm laws. Large mahapanchayats were held in Patna and in several districts. AIKS membership has increased to 2,64,910.
The report also notes the favourable political situation in Bihar after Nitish Kumar and the JD(U) broke with the BJP and joined the mahagatbandhan. This situation will have to be further consolidated by a battle against communalism to isolate and defeat the BJP.
On the second day was the discussion on the report, in which 35 delegates enriched it with their suggestions and experiences of struggle. Resolutions on important issues were adopted. Vijoo Krishnan also addressed the conference.
On the third day, after the secretary's reply, the report and accounts were unanimously adopted. The credentials committee report was placed. The conference unanimously elected an 85-member new state council, which in turn elected 15 state office bearers, with Rajendra Prasad Singh as president, Vinod Kumar as secretary, Sonelal Prasad as treasurer, six vice presidents and six joint secretaries. The conference also elected 30 delegates and 2 observers to the all - India conference.
It was decided to observe the Birsa Munda birth anniversary as Flag Day on November 15; joint SKM rally to the Raj Bhawan in Patna on November 26; and prepare in strength for the CITU-AIKS-AIAWU Delhi Rally to parliament on April 5, 2023, and the intensive ground level campaign for it. It was also decided to intensify struggles on vital issues like land and MSP legal guarantee in the days ahead, and also to strengthen the organisation.
The conference ended after the concluding speech by Dr Ashok Dhawale, with resounding slogans.
