Tripura: Mammoth Rally in Agartala Challenges the Despotic BJP rule

THE massive rally held at Vivekananda Maidan (Astabol Ground) in Agartala town on October 21, at the call of the CPI(M), threw a challenge to the authoritarian BJP rule in the state.

The rally was presided over by Aghore Debbarma, Central Committee member of the Party and it was addressed by CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau member Manik Sarkar and CPI(M) state secretary and Central Committee member Jitendra Chaudhury. 

Maha: CPI(M)’s Impressive Victories in Gram Panchayat Elections

THE CPI(M) captured 93 posts of the sarpanch (gram panchayat president) by direct election in the recently concluded round of gram panchayat (village panchayat) elections in the state. The Party has done quite well, especially in its traditional adivasi strongholds of Nashik and Thane-Palghar districts. This round of gram panchayat elections was not state wide, since only 1,165 gram panchayats in the state went to the polls. The voting was on October 16, 2022, and the counting was on October 17.

All India Apple Farmers Day Observed

FOLLOWING the call given by the Apple Farmers’ Federation of India (AFFI) to observe October 21 as ‘National Apple Day’, apple growers in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir expressed their discontentment with the union and state governments for taking anti-farmer policy steps that have hit the apple economy hard in both the regions, which account for more than 95 per cent of India’s total apple production.

Kerala: PKS Jatha Receives Good Response

Thousands of members of Pattikajathi Kshema Samithi (Scheduled Caste Welfare Organisation) affiliated to the Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch marched to the government secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram on October 11, marking the culmination of the month long state-wide jatha which started from Kasaragod on September 15. Slogans of the march were to ensure land and housing for all the Scheduled Castes and to introduce reservation in the private sector. CPI(M) Central Committee member AK Balan inaugurated the dharna.

National Conference of Electricity Employees Calls upon Power Workers to Join ‘Bijili Kranti Yatra’

THE ninth conference of the Electricity Employees’ Federation of India (EEFI) was successfully concluded on October 15, 2022, in Chandigarh. It called upon all the workers of the Power sector to join the Bijlee Kranti Yatra to be held in Delhi on November 23 to save the power sector and save India.
