WB: Left Front Announces First List of Candidates

ON March 14, the West Bengal Left Front announced its first list of 16 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The list was released by Left Front chairman Biman Basu in a press conference. Later on March 17, the Left Front also nominated RSP candidate Mili Oraon to contest in Alipurduar, bringing the total number of declared candidates   to 17, with room for potential additional candidates from   Congress and others.

CPI(M) Delegation Visits Violence-Hit Haldwani

A CPI(M) delegation led by Brinda Karat (Polit Bureau member), Vijoo Krishnan (Central Committee member), Rajinder Negi (Uttarakhand state Secretary) and others visited the violence-affected area of Banbhoolpura, Haldwani on March 13 and met scores of residents, including families of those killed. It met journalists who had been injured. It also met police personnel who had been injured.

Haryana: CPI(M)-CPI Rally Calls for Defeating BJP

ON March 9, a joint rally named as ‘Badlav Sandesh Rally’ was organised by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India at HUDA Ground in Jind, Haryana. CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and CPI national secretary Amarjeet Kaur addressed the rally among others.At the rally, leaders of both Communist parties, Sitaram Yechury and Amarjeet Kaur, launched a scathing critique against the BJP.

AP: Protests Held at SBI Branches Demanding Disclosure of Electoral Bonds

THE Communist Party of India (Marxist) demanded immediate disclosure of information regarding electoral bonds, as ordered by the Supreme Court. Protests were organised at SBI branches throughout Andhra Pradesh on March 11, in response to the Party's call. During the protest at the SBI main branch in Vijayawada, Party state secretary, V Srinivasa Rao, accused the ruling BJP of conducting politics with black money obtained from major corporations. He ridiculed the saffron party that talks about honesty while receiving kickbacks from corporate entities in the form of electoral bonds.

TN: CPI(M) Holds Second Regional Level Meeting for Electoral Preparations

IN order to stop the horse-trading indulged in by BJP across the country and to save the democratic system as enshrined in the constitution, it is our bounden duty to defeat BJP and its allies in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, said the CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury. It has also seen an equally strong resurgence of the BJP-RSS government’s brutal repression against farmers, which has led to two farmer martyrs so far, and many more seriously injured.One of the martyrs is 79-year old Gian Singh, who died of a heart attack on February 16, 2024 while protesting at the Shambhu border; the other is 21-year old Shubhkaran Singh, who was shot dead by the trigger-happy police of the BJP Haryana government on February 21 at the Khanauri border.
