DELHI: Survey of Migrant Workers under Covid Lockdown

SOON AFTER the lockdown was declared on March 24, here in Delhi we were informed by the West Bengal state leadership of the CPI(M) that a large number of migrant workerswere making distress calls to their contacts in the Partyback home and seeking help. In consultation with comrades in West Bengal, it was decided that contacts of our trade union leaders in Delhi would be passed onto the workers in distress.

KARNATAKA: CITU, Mass Organisations Provide Succour to Poor, Migrant Workers during Lockdown

THE CITU and other mass organisations in Karnataka have undertaken massive relief work among the people, particularly the poor and the working class, during the ongoing lockdown to check the spread of the novel coronavirus. The CITU launched a special drive – Asangatitharige Annapoorna Sankalpa–Nimmondige Naavu CITU Pracharabhiyana – to help the unorganized sector workers who have been hit the hardest due to the lockdown. It was decided to provide food hampers with 18 essential items, at a cost of Rs 800 each, to at least 10,000 families in the state.

HIMACHAL PRADESH: Relief amidst Lockdown

THE working people, especially those engaged in the informal sector in Himachal Pradesh, like in many other states, have had to pass through a tough time during the period of lockdown. The main sufferers have been outsourced workers in government departments, casual workers, part-time workers, MNREGA workers, and workers engaged in construction activities, domestic helps and hotel workers, workers engaged in lifting of garbage and cleaning sewage, porters, hawkers, street vendors and many others.

TELANGANA: CPI(M) Reaches 65,000 Families during Lockdown

IN the coronavirus lockdown period, the CPI(M) Telangana committee had conducted online political classes for its cadre and called upon its members to actively participate in social service programmes to reach out to the needy during this crisis time.Party members in the state have been actively taking part in the awareness programmes, service programmes and the government initiated service programmes over the past 38 days since the lockdown has begun in the country.

Bihar: Protest for Ration in the State

SHIMMERING discontent among the daily wage earners, poor people, transport workers, and unorganised sector workers, rural peasants and agriculture workers came to the fore as they responded in a big way at the call of CITU, AIKS, AIAWU, AIDWA, SFI, DYFI and raised the collective war cry,  ‘provide  ration instead of speeches’. The slogan reverberated all across Bihar on April 21.

WORLD is facing an unprecedented threat in the form of a new pandemic. Covid-19 has already claimed around 0.16 million human lives in the world. The total number of reported cases around the globe is 2.3 million in 210 countries according to the WHO.In India also the situation is worsening. A country with 1.3 billion population and crowded urban centers, the possibility for a wider spread of the virus is high in India. Already we recorded around 13,000 cases officially and 430 deaths.

Left Rraises demands of people in West Bengal

LEFT Front and mass organisations in West Bengal, while delivering relief as much as possible to the poor and stranded people, have also raised their voice on burning questions of peoples’ life and livelihood.On  April 18, leaders of Left Front and allied parties organised a silent protest in Kolkata. Keeping lockdown restrictions in mind, the leaders assembled in Red Road, outside ‘red zone’ area and stood near Ambedkar statue maintaining physical distance.

MAHARASHTRA: CPI(M) Condemns Palghar Mob Lynching

THE CPI(M) Maharashtra state committee strongly condemns the shocking incident of mob lynching that took place on April 16 night in the remote village of Gadachinchle in Dahanu tehsil of Palghar district. Three persons were killed, and two of them were sadhus who were proceeding from Mumbai to Surat.
