AP: Burn Farm Acts in Bhogi Bonfire

RYTU Garjana, farmers’ vehicle rally, gave a clarion call to the people to burn the draconian Farm Acts in the bhogi bonfire as part of Sankranti celebrations. Farmers and activists took out a huge rally of tractors, autos, two-wheelers in Vijayawada on the January 4, at the call of AIKSCC state committee. Farmers, agricultural workers, tenant farmers participated in a big number and the working class took part in the march in solidarity with the farmers agitating near the national capital against the farm laws forcefully adopted by the central government.
The rally with hundreds of vehicles started at Padavala Revu junction and passed on through BRTS road for about three kilometres. Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao, former agriculture minister of AP and the state convener of AIKSCC flagged of the rally. A meeting was conducted at the culmination point under the chairmanship of Y Kesavarao, state president of AP Rytu Sangham. V Srinivasa Rao, state vice president of tenant farmers organisation, Ravula Venkaiah, vice president AIKS (Ajoy Bhavan), Harinadh and other farmers’ leaders spoke on the occasion. They explained the heroic struggle going on in the national capital and criticised the misdeeds of BJP central government. They appealed the YSRCP government and the main opposition not to go behind Modi but to stand by the farmers in the struggle. MA Gafoor, state general secretary of CITU extended the solidarity of working-class and exposed the Modi rule. P Jamalaiah, state secretary of tenant farmers organisation welcomed the gathering and M Suryanarayana, state secretary of AP Rytu Sangham proposed vote of thanks.
The rally gave a call to the farmers and supporters of the struggle to burn the copies in bhogi fire as a mark of protest, and mount pressure on the central government. The protesters also chalked out an action plan according to which awareness meetings will be held from January 6 to 20, burning of copies of central farm laws, state’s GO(Government Order) No. 22, 20 in bhogi, kisan yatra by female farmers on January 18, dharna at Raj Bhavan on January 23 and participation in tractors parade near Delhi on January 26 will be done.
