Sahmat condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the manner in which the Delhi police and the “security establishment” has begun to operate as agents of various outfits of the Hindutva brigade. The latest evidence of this surrender to the Sangh Parivar was on display this morning (14th August 2026) in Delhi at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, run by the Gujarat Education Society and named after the first Home Minister of India.

In a statement issued by General Secretary Muralidharan, the National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD), has strongly condemned the arrest of nearly 2,500 disabled protesters in Chennai yesterday. Disabled people in the state have been on a continuous protest since the last six days demanding an enhancement in amount disbursed as disability allowance in the state. They are demanding that it be increased from the current Rs 1,500 to a minimum of Rs.

On December 3, the world will observe the International Day for Persons with Disabilities. This year’s observance, as with earlier years since its inception in 1992, also risks being reduced to ceremonial gestures like honouring select disabled persons, camps for distributing aids, cultural programmes, etc.

THE All India Lawyers’ Union (AILU) has strongly condemned the ongoing opposition to the proposed installation of a statue of Dr B R Ambedkar within the premises of the Gwalior Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, calling it a "dubious attempt to bring back Manusmriti and Manuvadi ideology through the back door."In a statement issued on June 2, the AILU noted that Dr. Ambedkar is not only the principal architect of the Indian Constitution but also a towering figure in the fight against caste oppression and social inequality.
