Massive Response to AIFAWH’s Demands Day on July 10

IN spite of heavy rains in many states, more than two lakh anganwadi workers from 19 states – Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Pondicherry, Punjab, Tripura, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal – observed “Demands Day” on July 10 at the call of the All India Federation of Angawadi Workers and Helpers.

CITU Congratulates the Working Class for Successful Satyagraha

THE Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) congratulates the workers of the country and all central trade unions and national federations for the successful united Satyagraha and courting of arrest on February 26 in all state capitals. 5193 workers and trade union leaders courted arrest at the Parliament Street police station in the national capital, Delhi. The general secretary of CITU Tapan Sen, MP, and its national office bearers, Hemalata, JS Majumdar, Ranjana Nirula and AR Sindhu were among the arrested. 

 

Workers’ Massive March in Durgapur-Asansol

WORKERS in Durgapur-Asansol industrial belt embarked on a 60 kilometre march to defend workers’ rights and save the entire area from the threat of deindustrialisation. The three day march, at the call of Left trade unions, started from Durgapur on February 2 and went through industrial and coal mines areas along the National Highway 2. It received huge response from the people of the area and became a stream of humanity on its way to Burnpur, where it culminated in a massive rally on February 4.

Coal Workers’ Dharna on Jan 30 Opposing Disinvestment

CITU has welcomed the coal workers federations’ decision to hold day-long dharnas on January 30 against the government’s move to disinvest 10 percent share of Coal India Ltd. (CIL), and called upon the coal workers to unitedly stage massive demonstrations to express their resolve and determination to fight back and resist the design of de-nationalisation and privatisation of the coal mining sector to facilitate plunder of vital natural resources for private gains and the game plan to impose slavery on the workers and the people.

Coal Strike: Govt Resorts to Misleading Statements, Distortion of Facts

THE two-day coal workers’ strike on January 6-7 was total and joined by seven lakh permanent and contract workers of public sector Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) in 40 coal-bearing districts of the country. The strike brought mining, loading and unloading, transportation and other related works to a grinding halt from the very first shift on January 6 and had an effect on lakhs of other workers engaged in outsourced activities.

State Govt Employees Federation Conference Calls For United Struggle against Neo-Liberal Policies

THE 15th National Conference of All India State Government Employees Federation (AISGEF) was held in Chandigarh from December 20 to December 23, 2014. CITU general secretary and MP Tapan Sen inaugurated the conference. As many as 1,226 delegates and observers from 23 states representing 26 affiliated organisations attended the conference. Of them, 212 were women.
