On Haj Subsidy

CPI(M)  Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on January 17

THE union government has decided to abruptly stop the Haj subsidy for pilgrims’ travel, though the Supreme Court had given a verdict in 2012 that this subsidy should be phased out over a ten year period.  The sudden withdrawal of the subsidy seems arbitrary and motivated by other considerations. 

PRESS CONFERENCE BY FOUR SENIOR MOST JUDGES OF SC: Wake-up call, says AILU

THE All India   Lawyers   Union   (AILU) in a statement issued on January 12 has said that the press conference by four senior most judges of the Supreme Court and the issues raised by them in their press meet and the letter addressed by them and issued to the press, is unprecedented and disturbing for the justice delivery system. It is a wakeup call for improving the functioning of the Apex Court and the judiciary as a whole. 

Oppose FDI Liberalisation

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on January 10

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly opposes the decision of the union cabinet to allow 100 per cent foreign direct investment through the automatic route in single brand retail trade.  Till now, FDI upto 49 per cent was permitted under the automatic route.  This step to liberalise FDI in retail trade will have harmful consequences for domestic retail traders and shopkeepers. 

KERALA: Ockhi Fund Campaign Organised by CPI(M) a Grand Success; Collects Rs 4.8 crores

IN a unique humanitarian gesture to provide monetary help to the victims of Ockhi Cyclone which devastated the southern Kerala coast exactly one month ago, CPI(M) workers in the state have collected Rs 4,81,02,511  (Four crores eighty one lakhs two thousand five hundred and eleven) from the people of the state.

CPI(M) Remembers Nalua Martyrs

A huge rally was organised by the CPI(M) at Nalua, under Hrishyamukh assembly constituency of Belonia, in Tripura on December 22 to remember the four martyrs of Nalua. Comrades Niresh Debnath, Manik Nama, Sushil Mahajan and Swapan Debnath were brutally murdered on  December 22, 1989 during the semi fascist Congress TUJS regime. Their bodies were brutality chopped off and buried.  Three bodies were recovered few days later. The then chief minister Sudhir Majumdar was holding a meeting in the same area. However the skeleton of Comrade Sushil Mahajan was recovered only in 1993.

NEPAL ELECTIONS: CPI(M) Congratulates KP Oli and Prachanda

ON behalf of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Sitaram Yechury, general secretary, has sent messages of greetings to KP Oli, chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) and Prachanda Pushpa Kamal Dahal, chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) on the victory of their alliance in Nepal elections. The letter was sent on December 23.

On 2G Judgement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on December 21, 2017.

The judgement of the CBI special court on the 2G spectrum case raises more questions than answers. It was well-established that the allocation of 2G spectrum had caused a big loss calculated to be Rs. 1,76,000 crores by the CAG.  The Supreme Court had indicted some of the telecom companies involved for misuse of the allocations and cancelled the licences of concerned companies. 

Logo for 22nd Congress of CPI(M) Released

The logo for the 22nd Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), scheduled to be held from April 18-22 , 2018 in Hyderabad was released by state secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram, who is also the general secretary of the Reception Committee. Along with him on the dais are Ch Sitaramulu, Central Committee member, B Venkat, treasurer of the Reception Committee and state secretariat member, Jyoti and Sunnam Rajyam, MLA, both state secretariat members and secretaries of the Reception Committee.
