CPI(M)  Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on January 17

THE union government has decided to abruptly stop the Haj subsidy for pilgrims’ travel, though the Supreme Court had given a verdict in 2012 that this subsidy should be phased out over a ten year period.  The sudden withdrawal of the subsidy seems arbitrary and motivated by other considerations. 

THE All India   Lawyers   Union   (AILU) in a statement issued on January 12 has said that the press conference by four senior most judges of the Supreme Court and the issues raised by them in their press meet and the letter addressed by them and issued to the press, is unprecedented and disturbing for the justice delivery system. It is a wakeup call for improving the functioning of the Apex Court and the judiciary as a whole. 

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on January 10

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly opposes the decision of the union cabinet to allow 100 per cent foreign direct investment through the automatic route in single brand retail trade.  Till now, FDI upto 49 per cent was permitted under the automatic route.  This step to liberalise FDI in retail trade will have harmful consequences for domestic retail traders and shopkeepers. 

A huge rally was organised by the CPI(M) at Nalua, under Hrishyamukh assembly constituency of Belonia, in Tripura on December 22 to remember the four martyrs of Nalua. Comrades Niresh Debnath, Manik Nama, Sushil Mahajan and Swapan Debnath were brutally murdered on  December 22, 1989 during the semi fascist Congress TUJS regime. Their bodies were brutality chopped off and buried.  Three bodies were recovered few days later. The then chief minister Sudhir Majumdar was holding a meeting in the same area. However the skeleton of Comrade Sushil Mahajan was recovered only in 1993.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on December 21, 2017.

The judgement of the CBI special court on the 2G spectrum case raises more questions than answers. It was well-established that the allocation of 2G spectrum had caused a big loss calculated to be Rs. 1,76,000 crores by the CAG.  The Supreme Court had indicted some of the telecom companies involved for misuse of the allocations and cancelled the licences of concerned companies.
