WEST BENGAL: CPI(M) Reaches to All Sections

THAT the CPI(M) is the party with a difference has been proved time and again in the past and it has been proved one more time during the on-going parliamentary elections. The part II of the election manifesto published for the 2019 parliamentary elections is testimony to this fact. This section of the manifesto spells out in detail the ‘alternative policies’ advocated by the Party. This segment enunciates “an alternate trajectory of economic growth” for “overall development”.

Cyclone Fani

CPI(M)  Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on May 3

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its grave concern at the damage to life, livestock and property being caused by cyclone Fani across the entire coastal belt of Odisha and parts of northern Andhra Pradesh. This severe cyclone is now moving towards West Bengal and is likely to cause further damage.

Cyclone Fani: Speedy Relief Needed

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on May 6, 2019

CYCLONE Fani was one of the severest cyclones to have wreaked havoc in Odisha. Thousands of thatched houses have been destroyed and reports of over fifty people having lost their lives are trickling in. There is extensive damage to power supply, communications and infrastructure.

ECI Decision on Tripura West Poll Disappointing

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on May 8, 2019

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep sense of disappointment over the Election Commission of India’s order to hold the elections void in 168 booths for the Tripura West parliamentary constituency and hold re-poll in these booths. There had been widespread rigging and prevention of voters exercising their franchise by the ruling BJP during polls held on April 11.

BJP Flaring Communal Polarisation

SPEAKING in a seminar on May 2 in Bhopal , Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of the CPI(M) said that in the last five years there has been a twin attack on the people of the country. On the one hand, the democratic values and constitutional provisions were incessantly attacked at the behest of the BJP government. On the other, there was severe attack the livelihoods of the people; economic hardships and inequity in the country increased.

WEST BENGAL: Chowkidar of Crony Capitalism Must be Defeated

BUDDHADEB Bhattacharjee, former chief minister of West Bengal, in an exclusive interview to Ganashakti, said that the demolition of the Modi model, a concoction of virulent communalism and crony capitalism, is the most important responsibility of the people of this country. He said that the time is favourable to assemble all the anti-communal forces on one platform to fight against this fascist dispensation currently ruling the country.

WEST BENGAL: CPI(M) Worker Protesting Vote Loot Killed

CPI(M) worker from West Bengal, Comrade Sk Kamrul, was killed  and five others were grievously injured after members of Trinamool Congress (TMC) assaulted them at Khandaghosh in East Burdwan district on May 5. They were attacked for organising a protest against the ‘vote loot’, the capturing of election booths by the ruling party, in Khandaghosh, Bishnupur Lok Sabha constituency, where elections would be held on May 12.
