J&K: Government Should not Interfere in the KPC

THE Jammu & Kashmir unit of the CPI(M) has expressed its strong resentment over the closure of Kashmir Press Club(KPC) by the administration of the union territory.

A statement issued by the Party-state secretary, Gulab Nabi Malik on January 18,  demanded the restoration of the status quo of the club's impending re-registration.

The CPI(M) has asked the administration to provide an atmosphere where KPC can have free and fair elections for its body.

AN abnormally accumulated burden of Rs 43,672 crore is looming large to be imposed on power consumers in Telangana. The failure of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government to get aggregate revenue requirement and tariff proposals filed before the Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC) by its two power distribution companies – TSSPDCL and TSNPDCL - for three years from 2019-20 to 2021-22 in time and in the form required under applicable regulations has led to the abnormally accumulated revenue gap.

Haryana: Mine Collapse a Result of Govt Negligence

AS people all over the world ushered in the new year, a major accident took place due to illegal mining in Khanak Dadam hills of Bhiwani district of Haryana. In this January 1 accident, five labourers died and two were seriously injured. There was a big explosion in the hill of Dadam at 9 in the morning in which seven labourers and two pokland machines and four dumper vehicles were buried under the stones. A stone slipped from the mountain and fell, whose length was 40 feet, the width was 30 feet and whose weight is said to be seven tons.

ONE month after the suspension of the historic farmers’ struggle on December 11, 2021, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) met at the Singhu border on January 15, 2022. Over 250 leaders of various Kisan organisations attended. The four-member presidium of the meeting comprised Yudhvir Singh, Ashok Dhawale, Joginder Singh Ugrahan and Jagjit Singh Dallewal. The AIKS was also represented by P Krishnaprasad, Inderjit Singh and Sumit. Three important decisions were taken regarding the future programmes of the SKM.

MP: CPI(M) 16th State Conference Held

SIXTEENTH Madhya Pradesh state conference of the CPI(M) was held in Bhopal on January 16, 17, 18. It set the goals of new campaigns, movements and struggles and re-elected Jaswinder Singh as the state secretary.

In his concluding speech at the conference, Party general secretary Sitaram Yechury, giving many examples from the country and the world, said that the struggles of the people have been in the most despotic rules and have won them.

Maha: Convention of Landless Agricultural Workers

A Two-Day, state-level convention of the landless and the homeless was held on December 29-30, 2021 in Jalna district of Maharashtra. It was organised by the Maharashtra Rajya Khet Mazdoor Union (Lal Bowta), the state unit of AIAWU. More than two hundred delegates attended the convention and resolved to launch a sustained struggle on the basic question of land and the right of home in rural India.

Before the convention, a public meeting of more than 2,000 agricultural workers was organised on December 29 at the multi-sports ground in Jalna.
