TN: Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Day

THE Tamil Nadu Platform for People's Unity observes Mahatma Gandhi's Memorial Day on January 30 as ‘anti-religious chauvinism day’, every year.

This year, garlanding of Gandhi's statue and taking oath for communal harmony were the activities conducted by the district units in the state. In some districts, this was followed by seminars and small rallies on the occasion.

THE state secretariat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), in a statement issued on February 11, has demanded that the Jharkhand Gazette (Extraordinary) dated December 27 issued by the government of Jharkhand in relation to the tribal and regional languages of the state by order of the governor be kept on hold and an all-party meeting be convened to discuss this issue.
