Chhattisgarh: Convention against Corporate Loot of Land and Repression of Tribals

TRIBALS, farmers and social organisations of Chhattisgarh gathered in Raipur for a state-level convention of Bhoomi Adhikar Andolan and Chhattisgarh Bachao Andolan. In a day-long convention on June 28, 2022, the delegates gave details of the ongoing movements to protect their Jal-Jungle-Zameen (Water, Forest and Land), minerals and other natural resources and to save democracy.

AP: CPI(M) Holds Dharnas at Dist Collectorates

THE Party state committee in Andhra Pradesh had decided to take up a campaign called “Janam kosam CPI(M)” (CPI(M) for People) from June 1- July 11. All the Party leaders and cadres went to the people door-to-door and learnt about their problems. After getting information from all the families in that habitation, the team segregated the issues and chalked out agitation programmes at local level (village/ ward secretariats) and mandal level and this activity culminated in a dharna at the district collectorates offices on July 11.

CPI (M) To Carry Out Massive Campaign & Agitation in A & N Islands on People’s Issues

THE CPI(M) in Andaman & Nicobar Islands will carry out a massive campaign and agitation on people’s issues in the coming months.  A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the state organising committee of the Party held at Shaheed Bhavan, Port Blair on July 9, 2022, in presence of G Ramakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member and SujanChakraborthy, Central Committee Member. D Ayyappan, secretary of the committee presented the report of the action plan in the meeting.

SOME right-wing political commentators may be gleefully celebrating the untimely demise of the MVA government in Maharashtra, calling it an ‘unlikely alliance’.

However, it was Uddhav Thackeray, as the chief of a regional party, who had growingly witnessed how the so-called natural alliance between the BJP and Shiv Sena was gradually getting untenable to continue for long. BJP’s deceit was brought home to him when the former reneged in 2019 on the promise of sharing the chief minister’s post.

HP: Kisans Achieve Partial Success in Struggle

The farmers along the Satluj river have been protesting for the last 60 days outside the office of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited(SJVNL) in Luhri in the Shimla district. The kisans are on a continuous dharna. These kisans are affected by the ongoing work of the Luhri hydropower project which is being constructed by the SJVNL. The Himachal Kisan Sabha is leading this movement. On July 1, there was a big demonstration outside the office of SJVNL.

AP: Protest against Privatisation of Vizag Steel

WIDE spread protests were observed on July 4-5 against privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) and demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh and to resolve many pending issues. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the state on July 4 in connection with the 125th Birth Anniversary of Alluri Sitarama Raju, who championed the cause of tribal people and fought against the British rule during the 1920s. He unveiled the statue of the freedom fighter and addressed a public meeting at Bhimavaram in West Godavari district.

Tripura Assembly Bye-Election: Victory Celebration Turns into attacks on the Opposition

The ruling party, BJP, in Tripura, started celebrating victory in three out of four constituencies where bye-elections were held on June 23, with physical attacks on the opposition. The BJP has chosen this victory to suppress the opposition using its miscreants in complicity with some pet police officials.

Rajasthan: Take Strict Punitive Action against the Culprits and Ensure Peace

THE state committee of CPI(M) in Rajasthan strongly condemned the brutal and barbaric murder of a tailor by slitting his throat in Udaipur city. The Party stated that this incident is an embarrassment to humanity. There seems to be a planned motive of communal anti-social elements behind doing such a dastardly act and then making it viral on social media. The motive of these killers is to promote communal hatred by destroying the social harmony of the state.

Apple Farmers’ Workshop in Srinagar

AS the third initiative in a row AIKS and P Sundarayya Memorial Trust organised the all-India workshop of apple farmers in Srinagar on June 22-23, 2022. Apple farmers from Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh participated in it along with experts from Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture – CITH, Srinagar, Sher-e Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi and All India Peoples Science Network.
