Kerala: People Back the Left as LDF Wins Big in Local By-polls

THE Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala, continues its winning streak by registering an emphatic victory in the local body by-elections, amidst the high-decibel anti-government campaign unleashed by the Sangh Parivar outfits over the Sabarimala verdict.

The elections were held for 39 local bodies in all the 14 districts in the state and the LDF has won 21 seats as it wrested five from UDF and one from BJP. The United Democratic Front (UDF) finished a distant second with just 11 seats.

MAHARASHTRA: AIKS Rally at Nashik Condemns BJP Govt’s Inaction

On November 14, 2018, the AIKS Nashik district council led a massive 25,000-strong district-wide peasant rally to the Nashik district collectorate to demand urgent measures for drought relief and the implementation of the written assurances given by the chief minister after the AIKS-led Kisan Long March eight months ago. The rally comprised peasants in large numbers from nine tehsils of Nashik district. This rally was held just two days after the AIKS statewide Farmers Rights Convention that was held in Mumbai.

DELHI: CPI(M) Organises Dharna against LPG Price Hike

THE Delhi state committee of CPI(M) has organised a sit-in in front of parliament on November 22 demanding immediate roll back on increased price of LPG. The price hike of subsidised and unsubsidised gas cylinder by the oil companies is totally unjustified and will be an intolerable burden on people already suffering from price rise.  With such a hike in LPG prices, people have to now buy gas cylinders at exorbitant prices.
