National Convention on Unemployment

A NATIONAL CONVENTION on ‘Unemployment, Job Losses and Deteriorating Quality of Employment’ was held jointly by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Students' Federation of India (SFI) at BTR Bhawan in Delhi on February 2, 2021. More than 300 delegates from across the country, comprising the national and state leadership of the three organisations, participated in the convention.

Jharkhand: Mass Fast Observed on Gandhiji's Martyrdom Day

ON the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi, January 30, AIKS and CITU organised one-day 'upwas' (Fast) in support of farmers' agitation in front of Gandhiji's statue in Ranchi.In the state capital, activists of AIKS and CITU along with mass organisations and with other social activists took out rally with raising different slogans like 'bapu amar rahe( long live Mahatma Gandhi), inquilab zindabad, bapu hum sharminda hai tere qatil zinda hai( Gandhi, we are ashamed that your murderers are still alive), teeno krishi kanoon wapas lo (take back the three farm laws) etc.

AP: Overwhelming Public Support to Farm Protests

AN overwhelming response from the people of Vijayawada to the Farmers' Solidarity Fund, collected by the Farmers' Struggle Solidarity Committee on January 25, showed that the farmers protesting in Delhi are not alone in their struggle and that they have the wider support of the people. About 600 activists belonging to various mass organisations, in 250 batches, have met nearly 40,000 people and collected an amount of Rs 4,01,652 in 400 hundis.People from all walks of life responded with humanity. A young lady donated all her domestic savings to the farmers’ struggle.

TELANGANA: Big Rally of Tribal Farmers

DEMANDING pattas for podu tillers (tribal peasants), double bedroom houses for eligible poor, the CPI(M) organised a big rally in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district centre, Kothagudem. The rally marched from the Lakshmidevipalli Mandal market yard to the Collectorate Dharna Chowk. In front of the demonstration, cultural programmes like district tribal dances, performances by Praja Natya Mandali artists, dances by transgenders etc attracted the people.

Historic Kisan Tractor Parade on Republic Day

INDIA had never seen such a magnificent sight in its history. On Republic Day, January 26, 2021, lakhs of farmers rode over one lakh tractors on the outskirts of the national capital Delhi. Each tractor proudly held aloft the national flag and the flag of the kisan organisation to which it belonged.
