TN: CPI(M) Holds Second Regional Level Meeting for Electoral Preparations

IN order to stop the horse-trading indulged in by BJP across the country and to save the democratic system as enshrined in the constitution, it is our bounden duty to defeat BJP and its allies in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, said the CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury. He was addressing the Party cadre attending the second zonal level meeting held at Chengalpattu on February 28 covering the northern districts of Tamil Nadu.Yechury further pointed out that the resources of the country are being looted in the interests of some of the friends of Modi.

It has also seen an equally strong resurgence of the BJP-RSS government’s brutal repression against farmers, which has led to two farmer martyrs so far, and many more seriously injured.One of the martyrs is 79-year old Gian Singh, who died of a heart attack on February 16, 2024 while protesting at the Shambhu border; the other is 21-year old Shubhkaran Singh, who was shot dead by the trigger-happy police of the BJP Haryana government on February 21 at the Khanauri border.

ON March 3, from the early hours, large number of people made their way to Gandhi Maidan in Patna, proudly waving red, green, and tricolour flags while chanting the slogan BJP Bhagao-Desh Bachao repeatedly. Peasants and workers, under the banners of CPI(M), CPI, and CPI(ML), had already started gathering at the Maidan from the evening of March 2nd. Not even the unexpected rain during the night could dampen the spirits of the participants.

Dabbawalahs Get a New Avatar in Kerala

KUDUMBASHREE in Kerala has launched a new 'Lunch Bell' project which is akin to Mumbai's dabbawalas. Kudumbashree volunteers are distributing hot lunch boxes to offices via the PocketMart food delivery app. Orders will be accepted until 7 am, with lunch boxes scheduled for delivery by 12 pm. Volunteers will collect empty lunch boxes by 2 PM, ensuring a three-level hygiene wash before reuse.The budget lunch box, priced at Rs 60, includes rice, sambar, pulissery, koottukari, chutney, and pickle, while the premium lunch box, costing Rs 99, has non-vegetarian dishes.
