TN: Protest Rally against Genocide in Palestine

IN response to the call from the Central Committee of the CPI(M), the Tamil Nadu state committee organised protest rallies across the state on June 2. In Chennai, the protest rally was organised by three district committees, starting from Chindadripet. The rally saw the participation of hundreds of youth and Party cadres. G Selva, secretary of the Chennai Central district committee, presided over the demonstration, which was attended by Party state secretary K Balakrishnan, Central Committee member P Sampath, state secretariat member N Gunasekaran, Chennai North secretary L Sundararajan, Chennai South secretary R Velmurugan, and state committee members A Bakkiam, M Ramakrishnan, V Rajasekaran, and many others. Throughout the rally, slogans were raised against Israel's inhumane attacks on children in Gaza, demanding an immediate halt to the war and attacks on Rafah, and calling for the restoration of an independent Palestine in its original homeland. Slogans were also raised against the Modi government for supplying arms to genocidal Israel. The Comrade Gangsta troupe performed songs against the genocide in Palestine. Some of the children who participated in the rally dressed as injured children from Gaza, highlighting the dire conditions faced by children in Palestine.

On the same day, similar demonstrations and rallies were held across the state, including notable events in Ponneri, Kanchipuram, Tiruvannamalai, Puducherry, Kallakurichi, Chengalpattu, Krishnagiri, Villipuram, Wallajha, Cuddalore, Vellore, Chidambaram, Vridhachalam, Madurai, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Dharmapuri, Trichy, and other major towns. These rallies saw slogans raised to stop the genocide against the Palestinian people.
