Stop Curtailing Media Freedom, Says DUJ

THE Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ), in a statement issued on April 15, has expressed deep concern at recent developments in the media space that seek to curtail their right to free expression and the right to earn their livelihoods, whether through the print media or digital platforms like YouTube.The Delhi Union of Journalists is shocked at the union government’s move to seize the assets of the National Herald, including Herald House in Delhi from which the Herald newspaper is published, besides the Associated Journals Ltd’s buildings in Lucknow and Mumbai.

DUJ Demands Press Access to Delhi Assembly

THE Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ), in a statement issued on February 27, has condemned the attempt by the newly sworn in BJP government in Delhi to deny entry for certain reporters to the Assembly to cover the proceedings.  Three journalists from ANI, ABP News, and PTI were stopped at the gates of the Assembly building when they were going to cover the Assembly on February 24, 2025, the first day of the new session. On the second day, five journalists from Times Now, Navbharat, News Nation, News18, Zee News, and Jantantra were denied entry.

Stop Covering Up Tragedies, Say NAJ-DUJ

THE Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) and National Alliance of Journalists (NAJ), in a statement issued on February 17, have expressed their dismay at the attempt by the Railway Police and authorities to intimidate journalist Saumya Raj and prevent her from reporting the stampede deaths at the New Delhi Railway Station on February 16, 2025. Raj, who reports for the popular YouTube channel Molitics India, was asked for her press identity card which she produced but the authorities nevertheless demanded that she stop videoing.

DUJ & NAJ Welcome Supreme Court Order on Mobile Privacy

THE Delhi Union of Journalists and the National Association of Journalists, in a statement issued on December 26, have welcomed the Supreme Court order upholding individual privacy and restraining the Enforcement Directorate from accessing and copying content from various electronic devices seized during raids. Both the media organisations have applauded this move to protect citizens' private, personal and professional communications.In this context, the DUJ and NAJ have condemned the Kerala Police's action against journalist Aniru Asokan of Madhyamam daily.

DUJ Condemns Life Threatening Attack on Uttarakhand Journo

THE Delhi Union of Journalists, in a statement issued on September 2, has condemned the life threatening attack on Uttarakhand based journalist Yogesh Dhimri, whose small digital channel Aanwala News has been in the forefront of exposes about the drug and liquor mafia operating in the state. Dhimri is also known for his bold reportage of the Ankita Bhandari rape and murder case. The attack left him badly injured and he is in hospital. A video of the attack has become viral.

Defending Democracy: A Charter for Protecting Press Freedom

THE National Alliance of Journalists (NAJ), the Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ), the Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Federation (APWJF), and associated members from across the country have, on August 9, presented a 13-point charter to members of parliament and political parties, calling for urgent measures to protect journalism amid escalating threats to press freedom and journalists' rights.
