It has issued the following statement on September 7.DISMAL ECONOMIC SCENEAll the latest data coming in show that the economic slowdown has accelerated after demonetisation and the threat of recession is looming ahead. The estimated GDP growth in the quarter of the current financial year i.e., April to June is 5.7 per cent. The GDP growth rate has fallen four quarters in a row. The index of industrial production for this quarter shows a growth rate of only 1.8 per cent.
PREPARATIONS are in full swing for successful holding of Kisan Sabha all India conference at Hisar in Haryana from October 3-6. Hisar will be hosting it for the second time while the last one it held was in 1992 when Comrades Jyoti Basu and Harkishan Singh Surjeet had addressed a huge kisan rally. This time around the venue is named after Com Harkisan Singh Surjeet who led several peasant struggles including the historical anti-betterment levy movement.

The killings of Govind Pansare, Dabholkar, Kalburgi and now Gauri Lankesh – are all interconnected.
CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on September 1, 2017The Polit Bureau strongly opposes the use of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) to file charges against P Jayarajan, member of the Kerala state committee of the CPI(M) and secretary of the Kannur district committee.The UAPA is meant to deal with terrorist crimes. The CBI has invoked provisions under the UAPA to charge Jayarajan with conspiracy to commit a terrorist offence.
NITI Aayog was constituted by the BJP government immediately after it assumed power at the centre. This brought down the curtains on the Planning Commission. The intention behind the establishment of NITI Aayog has been very clear – deepening the neoliberal reforms. SENIOR journalist, editor of an independent progressive weekly Gauri Lankesh was killed at her house in Bangalore, by unidentified gunmen. She was a vocal critic of the RSS-BJP and has spoken regularly against rising intolerance, through her weekly and through activism. Ironically she was also one of the main persons in the campaign to arrest the killers of Dr M M Kalburgi. Dr M M Kalburgi was murdered two years back. Now just a few days into this two year old murder, Lankesh’s assassination in the same way is even more shocking.
JAWAHARLAL Nehru, the architect of India's independent foreign policy, had prioritised non-alignment and the solidarity with the developing world as the main guiding force. The nation was guided by this policy till the late 1980's. This year also marks the 70th anniversary of the historic Asian Relation Conference (ARC) hosted by India. The conference chaired by Nehru marked the arrival of India on the world stage. It was attended by many leaders from Asian countries which were on the verge of gaining independence.
ON September 3, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea – or North Korea, as it is usually called by the media – tested a hydrogen bomb, with a yield estimated to be around 120 kilotons, eight times the power of the Hiroshima bomb. This, combined with the recent ICBM tests that show North Korea can reach the western shores of the US with its missiles, is not just a game changer between the US and North Korea stand-off . It is virtually game over.
