EVER since the September 28 verdict of the Supreme Court's constitution bench which allowed women of all ages to enter and pray in the Sabarimala temple in Kerala, the RSS-BJP has tried to turn the temple and its surrounding regions into a war-zone.The RSS itself had actually welcomed the Supreme Court verdict, but soon the RSS-BJP leaders, sensing the possibility of using old prejudices to gain some popular support, came out in opposition to women's entry in the temple.

Big Victory for Workers Struggle in SEZ Chennai

AFTER 55 days strike against the ‘India Yamaha Motor Private Limited’ in Chennai, the workers under the banner of CITU won a successful battle. The immediate reason for the strike was termination of two employees of the company on September 20, 2018, without any show cause notice. They were terminated just because they had become members of the India Yamaha Motor Thozhilalar Sangam – trade union affiliated to CITU.The management was forced to accept the dismissed employees on their rolls. This could be made possible with a continuous, firm struggle and unity of all the employees.

No to Electoral Bonds

The CPI(M) will not accept donations through electoral bonds. IN the course of the assembly elections now on in five states, the CPI(M) has been offered electoral bonds as donation in one of the states.  The Party has not accepted this offer even though it is in serious need of funds to fight elections.Why is the CPI(M) rejecting funding through electoral bonds? This requires explanation as the system of electoral bonds introduced by the Modi government is a pernicious one.

THE election notification for 119 constituencies of Telangana Assembly was issued on November 12. After a long tussle, the ‘Mahakutami’, a four party alliance of Congress, Telugu Desam Party, Telangana Jana Samithi and CPI, announced its first list of 65 candidates from the Congress party on November 12. The TDP, TJS, and CPI are to contest in 14, 8, and 3 seats respectively.
