CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on June 25THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is deeply concerned at the effort by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to push Hindi as a compulsory subject in all under graduate courses all across India.This is strange in the background of the widespread protest in the country against the imposition of Hindi as part of the draft National Education Policy, 2019 which forced the government to beat a hasty retreat.

Road Transport Workers’ Federation Demands Withdrawal of IRDA’s Proposal

THE All India Road Transport Workers’ Federation, in a statement issued on May 21, has strongly condemned the proposal of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) to enhance the third party insurance premium rates for the motor vehicles including agriculture tractors. The proposal is irrational, non transparent and highly exploitative. The proposal is made when the entire country is eagerly waiting for the parliament election results and the new government to take oath.

BEFI Welcomes SC Order on RBI Disclosure Policy

THE Bank Employees Federation of India has welcomed the Supreme Court’s order on April 26 directing the Reserve Bank to stop blocking disclosure of documents such as the list of loan defaulters and annual inspection reports of banks under the Right to Information Act.The apex court asked the RBI to amend ‘Disclosure Policy’ in line with its earlier ruling on December 16, 2015. The order is part of relentless attempts to extract information in the backdrop of mounting corporate bad debts in banks with the RBI and the government resisting such attempts.

Don’t Touch Article 35A THE people of Kashmir valley and all shades of political opinion there are highly perturbed by reports of the efforts to do away with Article 35A of the constitution. This has come in the context of the petitions being heard in the Supreme Court challenging the constitutional provision and the fact that the central government has not made its position clear on the matter. Article 35A confers the power to the Jammu & Kashmir state legislature to define who are permanent residents and their rights.

THE All India Lawyers Union, in a statement  issued on April 10, has expressed shock and dismay at the incident of a girl accusing a sitting BJP MLA from Bangarmau in Uttar Pradesh and attempting suicide infront of chief minister Yogi Adityanath's residence.
