AP: Human Chain, Torch Rallies Held against Privatisation of Vizag Steel Plant

THOUSANDS of people participated in the 10-kilometre human chain along the National Highway-16 from Aganampudi to Akkireddypalem in Visakhapatnam on August 29 to protest Modi government’s move of strategic sale of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. In response to the call given by the Visakha Ukku Parirakshana Porata Committee, which is spearheading the agitation, hundreds of Steel plant workers, displaced persons and their family members, and the general public joined hands to form the human chain.

All Set for SKM National Convention, Punjab Sugarcane Farmers Win Demands

THOUSANDS of farmers from different states of India are getting ready to take part in two important events of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) – the national convention of SKM on August 26-27, 2021 at the Singhu Border and the massive Muzaffarnagar rally to inaugurate Mission Uttar Pradesh-Uttarakhand on September 5. Over 1,500 delegates from all over India will attend the national convention, which is being held to coincide with the completion of nine months of the historic farmers’ struggle.

ON August 14, 2021, the 114th birth anniversary of the legendary leader of the famous Warli Adivasi Revolt from 1945-47, one of the co-founders of the Maharashtra Rajya Kisan Sabha in 1945, a member of the CPI(M) Central Committee for over 25 years, and the first and only woman president of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) from 1986 to 1989, Comrade Godavari Parulekar, was celebrated through various programmes held at Talasari in the Palghar district of Maharashtra.

TRIPURA: Agartala Streets Reverberate with ‘Where is my job’ Slogan

AT the call of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and the Tribal Youth Federation (TYF), the youth of Tripura have come on to the streets of Agartala demanding materialisation of the election promise of the ruling BJP.  Their slogan ‘Where is my job?’ received tremendous response from the masses of the state, both tribals and non tribals, in the plains and the hills. In most of the sub-divisions, demonstrations are being held with banners asking ‘Where is my job?’ which has attracted public attention.

Bihar: Misgovernance Continues to Plague the State

THE devastating flood in Bihar has caused large scale destruction of infrastructure and rendered lakhs of people homeless, taking shelter on the side of highways and high lands without food, water and other essential needs. Among the 16 flood-ravaged districts, Bhagalpur is the worst affected and cut off from the state capital. The national highway connecting Bhagalpur is also under water. The so-called preparation of the government to face the flood is nonexistent.
