Manipur: AMDWA-AIDWA Hold State Conference

THE All Manipur Democratic Women’s Association (AMDWA), affiliated to the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), held its seventh state conference on May 14, 2022 at the Manipur Dramatic Union Hall, Imphal. The venue was named after our leaders, L Tarunibala and R K Danita.

The conference began with the flag hoisting by M Randhoni Devi, the first president of AMDWA, followed by floral tributes to the martyrs.

On Crop Wise Mobilisation of Farmers in the Dairy Sector

THE first-ever all India dairy farmers’ workshop jointly organised by All India Kisan Sabha and P Sundarayya Memorial Trust was held at Kozhikode, Kerala, on May 14-15, 2022. It was attended by 71 delegates from 17 states. Ashok Dhawale, president of AIKS, inaugurated the workshop, while AIKS joint secretary, Vijoo Krishnan chaired the inaugural session. Reception committee chairman and secretary of CPI(M) Kozhikode district, P Mohanan Master and state secretary of Kerala Karshaka Sangham Panoli Valsan also spoke.

National Conference of the All India Fishers and Fisheries Workers’ Federation

THE third national conference of All India Fishers and Fisheries Worker’s Federation (AIFFWF) was successfully held at Uluberia, West Bengal on 11-12 May 2022. 189 delegates from 9 states participated in the conference, which was inaugurated by Tapan Sen, general secretary of CITU.

Tushar Ghosh, president of AIFFWH, Kootai Basheer, Sudhan Das, Uma Sarkar, L Balakrishna and Karuna Moorthi acted as the presidium.

POLITICS over iftar was the hot topic for discussion in Bihar, leaving behind the pressing problems faced by the common people. BJP Replaces Tripura CM to Hide Failures

IN a sudden move, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb tendered his resignation to the governor on May 14. On the same day, a batch of central BJP leaders flew to Agartala, arranged a meeting of their legislature party to formally elect a new leader. According to media reports, after much commotion, state president of the party Manik Saha was elected as the leader of the legislature party and was sworn in as chief minister the following day.  

AIPSO Condemns Killing of Journalist by Israeli Forces

THE All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO) organised a protest demonstration at Connaught Place, New Delhi on May 13, condemning the killing of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by the Israeli military forces. AIPSO demanded an impartial enquiry into the killing and exemplary punishment for those responsible for this brutal assassination. It is to be noted that the secretary general of the UN too condemned this brutal killing and called for an independent probe.
