West Bengal: Determined Intensive Campaign by Morcha

THE spurge in Covid pandemic has added new features in electioneering in West Bengal. Sanjukta Morcha led the way by declaring that it would not organise big rallies anymore, except for the few which was decided much earlier. Morcha campaign, on the contrary, has turned more intensive, door to door following Covid rules. Both BJP and TMC have initially mocked the decision, and leaders of both parties continued with their mass meetings. The prime minister has even boasted of a ‘huge’ gathering in his rally while the entire country was suffering from galloping cases.

Rajasthan: Farmers Jointly Observe Roza-Iftar and Navami

THE farmers' movement and picketing continued  for the 129th consecutive day at Shahjahanpur border.The unity of farmers was seen in an unprecedented manner. Both Muslim and Hindu festivals were observed by the farmers. The eighth day of Roza Iftar on Shahjahanpur-Kheda border continued on April 21. The farmers jointly performed Rosa-Iftar and also celebrated Navratra and Navami.It has been decided on the Shahjahanpur-Kheda border that the movement will continue, taking all kinds of vigilance, and in the coming days, a call has been made to the farmers to reach in maximum numbers.

Provide Free Vaccine to every State: Pinarayi Vijayan

PINARAYI Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala wrote a letter to Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India on April 20,  demanding free vaccine supply to all the state governments. Pinarayi said that the second wave of Covid 19 has spiked a large number of cases every day and the centre and the states have to work together to crush this rising curve of incidence of infections. He supported the decision of the central government of providing the vaccine to all above the age of 18 years.

Kerala: SFI Worker Killed by RSS Goons

IN yet another brutal incident of violence RSS goons in Alappuzha district have stabbed a 15-year-old SFI worker to death.  Abhimanyu, a class tenth student of Amritha School in Vallikunnam was killed by a group of RSS workers. The incident occurred during a Vishu festival at Vallikunnam Padayanivattam Temple. Abhimanyu is the seventh victim of UDF- RSS violence in the last ten months. The attack occurred at 9.45 pm on April 14th. A sharp weapon was pierced into his body, which left a big hole in the belly.Abhimanyu was to appear for the SSLC examination on April 15th.

AP: Massive Rally against Privatisation of Vizag Steel Plant

THE national leaders of Samyukta Kisan Morcha and trade union leaders of Visakha Ukku Parirakshana committee addressed a huge rally called ‘ Rytu Karmika Sankharava Sabha’ (farmer worker clarion call meeting) against privatisation of Vizag Steel on April 18th on the beach of Visakhapatnam. Thousands of farmers, workers, employees and their family members attended the meeting.

MNREGA Wage Hike of Less Than Four Per Cent is Cruel to Rural Workers

THE central government has announced new wage rates for the people working under MNREGA for the year 2021-22. According to the revised rates announced by the Ministry of Rural Development on March 15, the enhancement is from Rs 0 to Rs 23 in different states.  At the national level, the hike is than four per cent which is unfair towards the poor rural workers, majority of whom are dalits, tribals and poor rural women. While the prices of essentials are skyrocketing, the government is reluctant to increase the wages.

Kerala: Unholy Nexus of Congress-IUML & BJP

AN unholy and surreptitious alliance between the Congress-led United Democratic Front and the BJP is not uncommon in the electoral history of Kerala.
