TRIPURA: November Revolution Day: People Longing for Real Alternative

THE exploited, deprived and suppressed people all over the world are striving for a real alternative to the existing exploitative capitalist system set up by the most reactionary forces. The Indian masses would also certainly choose their alternative in the same process, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Manik Sarkar told a hall meeting on the occasion of 103rd anniversary of the Great November Revolution at Agartala Town Hall on November 7.

Telangana: Dharna Against Farm Bills

THE All India  Kisan Struggle Co-ordination Committee(AIKSCC) leaders criticised the central government for turning states into its pocket institutions. Violating the federal spirit, the central government brought three farm bills and one electricity amendment bill. The leaders called on the people and farmers to reject these anti-people bills. They threatened to give a call “Delhi Chalo” on November 26 and 27th, if the bills are not abolished and withdrawn and also to give a call for a grameen  bandh(rural strike).

Prajasakti, the Real Voice of People

‘PRAJASAKTI is the real voice of the people’, lauded the speakers at the inauguration of its new building at Tadepalli, in the capital region on November 6. Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh switched on the computer button from his camp office and virtually inaugurated the building. He said that Prajasakti has been run and guided by persons committed to the service of common people and so it is committed to values in journalism. He extended good wishes to the paper, staff and to the leadership on this occasion.

ANDHRA PRADESH: BJP Policies Harmful to the State’s Interests

THE policies pursued by the BJP central government are very much harmful to the interests of Andhra Pradesh, said B V Raghavulu, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member while inaugurating the political campaign at Vijayawada on November 7. CPI(M) AP committee has taken up a political campaign throughout the state from November 7-15, explaining the people about the policies of BJP central government that have been inimical to the state’s interests and that are pauperising the people of India.

New Challenges in the Education sector faced with Lockdown and Pandemic

THE Bombay University and College Teachers Union (BUCTU) conducted a survey amongst students affiliated to Mumbai University on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The survey was conducted among college students in districts within the jurisdiction of the University of Mumbai.

A structured questionnaire (in Marathi and English) via google form was sent out to students of all classes through their teachers. This survey received a response from 22,864 students.

The Situation Now & the Nov 26 General Strike

J & K: People's alliance will contest DDC elections jointly

THE people's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration(PAGD) has stated that it will jointly contest the elections to the DDC(district development council). A statement in this regard was made on November 7, 2020, in Jammu. Farooq Abdulla from National Conference, Mehbooba Mufti from PDP and Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami from the CPI(M) amongst others were present during the press briefing.

This was the first meeting outside the Kashmir valley in Jammu which took place in the residence of Dr Farooq Abdulla.

Haryana: Oppose 20times MBBS fee hike

THE CPI(M) Haryana has strongly opposed the decision of the state government to hike twenty times the fees of MBBS and PG courses of government medical colleges in Haryana. The present fees for the courses are Rs 53,000. With this decision, now from this session, every student who gets admission in MBBS in Haryana medical colleges will have to submit a bond worth of Rs 10 lakh every year. This will include the fees of that year also.

Bihar: Communal Polarisation remains foremost Weapon in the NDA’s Arsenal

THE nail biting finish of Bihar election result in favor of the NDA raises many questions regarding the fairness of counting of votes as the last tranche of votes were being counted. The results were poised for either way, at least in 10 seats which had slender leads were managed in favour of the NDA. When the issue was raised by Mahagathbandhan allies with the election commission it denied any wrong doing on its part and brushed aside the objections.
