WEST BENGAL: TMC-BJP Aggravating Communal Polarisation

CPI(M) West Bengal state secretary Surjyakanta Misra asserted that there can be no political battle against communal forces and the BJP with the help of TMC or the vice versa.In a statement, Misra said, TMC and BJP, through their divisive political line have accentuated the atmosphere of violence and provocation in different parts of the state. The state administration has miserably failed to protect peace, harmony and security of citizens.

Appalling Discrimination against Kerala in Union Budget 2019-20

THE employment guarantee scheme has been one of those government interventions in our country which have been most beneficial to the people. As per last year's revised estimates, the government had sanctioned Rs 61,084 crore for this scheme. But the NDA-II government has allocated only Rs 60,000 crore for the scheme in this year's budget – a reduction of Rs 1,084 crore when compared to the previous budget. Even though the scheme is supposed to provide 100 days of employment per worker, the average days of employment per worker so far is just 46 days.

TELANGANA: CPI(M) Holds Extended State Committee Meeting

TELANGANA committee of the CPI(M) has organised an extended state committee meeting of the Party on July 9, at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram in Hyderabad. Party general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau members, Prakash Karat and B V Raghavulu attended the meeting. It was presided over by Ch Seetharamulu, Central Committee member of the Party.Addressing the meeting, Sitaram Yechury said that the union budget is encouraging privatisation. He said the NDA government under the leadership of the BJP has given the current budget as a gift to the corporates.

Tripura: Nomination Filing Marred By Violence

THE process of filing nomination papers for the three tier panchayat elections in Tripura concluded on July 8 with widespread incidents of violence. The state election commission here, as was apprehended in an earlier column, completely failed to provide security and an atmosphere of free and fair election to the opposition. The figures of candidates from different political parties themselves are proof enough to show how the opposition has been barred from taking part in the election. Out of 6,111 seats of 591 gram panchayats, BJP fielded candidates in 6,127.

Stop Eviction of Tribals

TELANGANA: CPI(M) Opposes Construction of New Assembly, Secretariat Buildings

THE CPI(M) has condemned the decision of the TRS government in Telangana to demolish a 150-year-old heritage structure and construct a new secretariat building at Erra Manzil. CPI(M) state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said the funds earmarked for the construction of the new secretariat building should be used for various welfare schemes. Buildings in the old secretariat are fully equipped for smooth functioning of the state legislature and administration, he added.The high court too pulled up the state government.
