RICH tributes were paid to Comrades Rama Krishna, Vishnuvardhan Reddy and Balaswamy, on the 20th anniversary of the Martyrs Day of the Electricity movement, on August 28. The three were brutally killed by the then Telugu Desam Party government, which hiked electricity charges heavily and was vehemently implementing the World Bank dictates by putting a burden of Rs1,000 crore on the people of the united Andhra Pradesh.The CPI(M) and Left parties initiated the struggle against the power tariff hike and later the Congress, the main opposition supported it.

TELANGANA: CPI(M) Demands Compensation, Houses to Flood-Hit Farmers

TELANGANA committee of CPI(M) leaders toured in the flood-hit districts of Warangal, Karimnagar, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam and Mahabubnagar to study the crop losses caused by recent heavy rains.The state has recorded a 51 per cent additional rainfall this year due to the floods leading to heavy crop losses. Hundreds of tanks and culverts were damaged and crops like paddy, pulses, cotton were lost in the heavy flood water. Transportation to tribal agency areas in Bhadradri and Kothagudem districts has come to a halt and villages in the vicinity of Godavari river have come under water.
