Road Transport Workers Oppose CAA

THE All India Road Transport Workers' Federation (AIRTWF), in a statement issued on December 21, has demanded the central BJP government to repeal the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and condemned the brutal attack on protesters.The BJP government, amidst strong protesting voices in the parliament, had passed the CAA to keep away a section of people living in India by striping their rights as citizens. The government has imposed religious criteria by considering certain sections of people, violating the provisions of our constitution.

THE All India Agricultural Workers Union (AIAWU) with a membership of over seven million members in 16 states of the country is one of the premier organisations of the rural working masses. It is deeply concerned with the worsening condition of the economy of the country whose GDP has sunk to 4.5 per cent, in 2019-20 from 7.2 per cent in 2014-15, with industrial growth falling from 7.3 per cent in July 2018 to  2.1 per cent in July 2019.

Towards National Conference of AILU

THE 13th all India conference of All India Lawyers Union(AILU) will be held on December 27-29,  2019 at Kochi in Kerala. A reception committee of 350 members was formed with P Rajeev former MP as its chairman.The AILU all India conference will deliberate on the issues pertaining to the country especially the recently passed constitutional amendment act, which hits at the basic spirit of the Indian constitution.

CPI(M) to challenge CAA in SC

THESE were the emphatic remarks of Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of the CPI(M) in a press conference held on December 16 at Delhi. He said that the Party has given final shape to the petition challenging the Constitutional Amendment Act(CAA), which was passed in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the recent parliament session, despite strong opposition from the people and some of the political parties.

Punjab: Comrade Surjeet’s death anniversary observed

ON December 8, the death anniversary of Comrade HKS Surjeet, former general secretary of the Party was observed at his native village in Bundala Manjhki in Jalandhar district of Punjab state. A large number of Party workers and sympathisers participated in the function from all over Punjab. Leaders of various political parties and state committee members of CPI(M) were also present. Ashok Dhawale, Central Committee member of CPI(M) was the chief guest.

NEITHER the press, the eyes nor the speech are free in Kashmir (all are under surveillance), remarked Mohd Yousuf Tarigami while speaking in a press conference along with Sitaram Yechury at Delhi on December 8. Tarigami said this will not sustain and shall be perilous to the establishment.Sitaram Yechury paid condolences at the death of 43 workers in a fire in Delhi at the beginning of the press conference.  Yechury demanded an inquiry into the incident and adequate compensation to the victims.
