All-India Strike of Scheme Workers

THE scheme workers organised a successful all-India strike on September 24. The Joint Platform of Scheme Workers’ Federations congratulated them for the magnificent show of strength. Lakhs of scheme workers mainly the Anganwadi, ASHA and Mid-day Meal workers struck work and held demonstrations, dharnas, rallies etc at district/block centres throughout the country.

Delhi: Party State Conference Sees Massive Participation of Women

THE three day (September 24-26) Delhi state conference of the CPI(M) started with an open session addressed by Sitaram Yechury, general secretary and Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau member in-charge of the state.Yechury observed that the BJP-RSS government has done immense damage to secular democracy, federalism, social justice and self reliance. The country is sliding into poverty as it has the maximum number of those below poverty line in the world now and still the Modi government is unwilling to yield to the genuine demands of cash transfer and free rations.

HP: CPI(M) Conference Vows to Provide an Alternative

THE state conference of Himachal Pradesh unit of CPI(M) was held on September 25-26 at Kullu. According to the credential committee report, 195 delegates participated in the conference. The Party flag was hoisted by senior comrade and medical practitioner Dr M S Dattal. The conference was inaugurated by Party Polit Bureau member, Tapan Sen.The conference elected 30-member Party state committee, which unanimously elected Onkar Shad as new state secretary.

THE Assam government led by the BJP, which has been dehumanising the religious minority community members of East Bengal origin by calling them "termites", is now evicting them from their homes to give the land away for farming to 'indigenous' people. Ironically, the controversial phrase 'indigenous of Assam' is yet to be defined by any constitutional bodies or authorities.The ruthless eviction drive on September 23 led to the killing of two poor Muslims and injuries to many others by the police under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Uttar Pradesh: Women's Security—Claims and Truths

IN the meeting of the BJP women's wing held on September 7, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath made tall claims about women's security. According to him, before he came to power, girls could not go to school; it was unsafe to walk on the road. And after his arrival, women can go out of the house fearlessly. Yogi Adityanath claims that whatever good is happening for women is because of him and Modi.In 2022, the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections are scheduled and thus, such false claims are a ploy to whitewash the anti-people, anti-women activities during Yogi's tenure.

Tamil Nadu: Human Chain Demanding release of Bhima Koregaon Accused

THOUSANDS of people participated in the human chain programme held on September 15, 2021, in various parts of the state demanding the release of the accused of the Bhima Koregaon conspiracy case. These actions also demanded the repeal of UAPA and draconian acts also. The call for a human chain programme was given by the joint platform of Left, Democratic, Periyarist, Ambedkarite, Progressive organisations of Tamil Nadu - ‘Movement for the Release of Prisoners of Bhima Koregaon conspiracy – Tamil Nadu and Puducherry’.

KERALA: Tripura Solidarity Day Observed in 35,000 Centres

MASSIVE mobilisations of peace-loving people were held across the state of Kerala, against the fascistic tyranny of the BJP in Tripura. About seven lakh people gathered in more than 35,000 centres to express their solidarity with the people fighting against the vicious attack of BJP goons in Tripura. Observing the Covid-19 protocol, CPI(M) activists mobilised in their respective branch centres with red flags.In three years, 21 CPI (M) activists have been killed in attacks by BJP criminals in Tripura. Hundreds of comrades were attacked.
