Withdraw Retrograde Amendments to Cinematography Act

CPI(M)  Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on July 1THE proposed amendments to the Cinematography Act by the Modi government is an all-out assault on the creative talents of film makers and the constitutional right of freedom of expression. The central government wants to add a provision to give it the right to “revisionary powers” on account of violation of Section 5B (1) (principles for guidance in certifying films) of the Act. This is tantamount to withdrawing films already certified and closed.

On Compensation to Families of Covid Victims

CPI(M)  Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on June 21THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) rejects the central government’s understanding with regard to compensation to corona victims, as stipulated under the Disaster Management Act, which has been invoked by the central government to deal with the Covid pandemic. Under the provisions of this Act compensation to the victims of a disaster has to be paid.The argument that the distribution of ex-gratia payments will strain the finances of the government is specious.

Condemn Murderous Attack on CPI(M) Bihar MLA Ajay Kumar

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on May 30, 2021THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the murderous attack on Ajay Kumar, leader of the CPI(M) legislature party and member of its Bihar secretariat, at Samastipur. This is the second such attack on him in the past few weeks.The Polit Bureau demands that the culprits must be apprehended immediately and punitive action taken against them.
