On Compensation to Families of Covid Victims

CPI(M)  Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on June 21

THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) rejects the central government’s understanding with regard to compensation to corona victims, as stipulated under the Disaster Management Act, which has been invoked by the central government to deal with the Covid pandemic. Under the provisions of this Act compensation to the victims of a disaster has to be paid.

THE Modi government has been forced to withdraw its faulty and disastrous “liberalised vaccine policy” in the face of strong opposition, pushback from states and Supreme Court’s criticism of it.  It has had to accept the demand for free vaccines for all citizens.

Rescind Latest Dangerous and Retrograde IT Act Rules

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on May 28, 2021

THE government has recently modified the rules concerning the safe  harbour provisions in the IT Act for intermediaries such as Facebook and Twitter vide its notification dated February 25, 2021. This came into operation from May 26, 2021. The notification requires all intermediary platforms providing messaging services to identify the “first originator” of a message trail and furnish this on demand to either the court or the government.
