TRIPURA: AIDWA Conference Vows to Safeguard Peace, Harmony & Unity in the State

THE eighteenth state conference of AIDWA Tripura state committee concluded successfully on September 26 at Udaypur of Gomati district. It called for a constant, conscious and vigilant struggle against the reactionary forces to foil their evil conspiracies. It called upon the women of the state to build up a strong organisation to counter the enemies politically and reestablish Left Front government in 2018.The conference started with a massive meeting at KBI ground Udaypur.

JULY 31, 2016, would be remembered by the people of Tripura as a day of fulfilment of their long-cherished dream with the flagging-off of the ‘Tripura Sundari Express’ from Agartala to New Delhi. The first ever passenger train from Agartala railway station after gauge conversion was flagged off jointly by Union Railways Minister Suresh, Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Union Minister of State for Rails Rajen Borgonhai, Tripura Transport Minister Manik Dey and Bangladesh Railway Minister Mujibul Hoque.

Tripura: Left Front Sweeps TTAADC Village Committee Poll

DEFEATING the opportunistic and unholy alliance of all anti-Left political parties, the Left Front in Tripura maintained its dominance winning 520 of the 587 village committees of TTAADC. In terms of seats, Left Front won in 3,838 out of 4,597. Of these, CPI(M) won in 3,806 seats,  while CPI,  RSP and FB won in 12, 12 and 8 seats, respectively. The Left Front won in 88.59 per cent of village committees and in 83.5 per cent of seats. The polling was held on February 24.

Tripura: Left Front Set for Victory in ADC Elections

AFTER registering a sweeping victory in urban local body elections in the state in December last, the Left Front in Tripura has plunged into another electoral battle. Election to the village committees under Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) will be held on February 24. The counting will take place on February 27.A total of 7,66,946 electorate will elect 4,597 representatives in 587 villages spread across 52 blocks of the state. Village Committees in TTAADC areas are equivalent to gram panchayats in non-ADC areas. The withdrawal of nomination got over February 9.

Left Sweeps Municipal Polls in Tripura, Wins All 19 Local Bodies

THE Left Front swept the municipal elections in Tripura, winning all the 19 urban local bodies -- Agartala Municipal Corporation, 13 municipal councils and five nagar panchayats -- that went to poll on December 9. The Left Front has wrest control of Ambassa Municipal Council in northern Tripura and Sabroom Nagar panchayat in south that were won last time by the Congress.The results, announced on December 12, showed that the people living in urban areas have reposed their faith again in the Left Front.

Tripura Local Body Polls Held

POLLING to the Agartala municipal corporation and 18 other urban local bodies elections including 13 municipal councils and five nagar panchayats and bye elections to 10 seats of the three-tier panchayats passed off peacefully on December 9. From the early hours of the day itself, people started queuing up in front of the polling stations. Everywhere there was festive mood as women, as usual, came to vote in large numbers. The final figures are yet to be confirmed, but according to primary estimates, more than 85 percent casting was recorded.
