DELHI: RSS Attempts to Whip-up Communal Violence

THE Delhi state committee of CPI(M) in a statement issued on September 9, has strongly condemned the communal violence unleashed by the RSS and its supporters in Bhalaswa North-West Delhi. In the past two months one person, Rathore of local RSS unit is trying to whip-up communal tension in Bhalaswa colony. For this he is resorting to loud clappings and singing over loudspeakers as and when Aazan is said. Yesterday, a group of women from minority community went to the organisers of singing and requested them to resume their song once the Aazan is over.

Fact Finding Team to Narmada–SSP Affected Areas Releases Report

THE ground level fact finding report from Sardar Sarovar Project Submergence Areas in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat titled ‘Drowning a Valley: Destroying a Civilisation” was released on June 13 at Indian Women’s Press Corps by the Fact Finding team who visited the villages on May 9-10, 2015. A 20 minute short film shot on the governmental decision to raise the height of the SSP from 121.92 mts to its full height of 138.68 mts by Anil Anand and Ramesh Pimple was also screened at the same.

On De-recognition of APSC in IIT-Madras

THE de-recognition of the Ambedkar-Periyar Study Circle (APSC) in IIT-Madras at the behest of the HRD ministry invited reactions from various sections. The central executive committee (CEC) of the SFI had given a call to form Ambedkar-Periyar Forums on campuses across the country not only in solidarity with the friends in IIT-Madras, but also against the casteist-brahmanical regressive ideology of the Sangh Parivar.

CPI(M) Condemns Disfiguring of Signages Bearing Muslim Names in Delhi

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Delhi state secretariat has issued the following statement on May 15.

THE CPI(M) Delhi state committee strongly condemns the disfiguring by Hindutva elements of sign boards on roads named after historical figures and well known personalities having Muslim names. These include signages bearing names of medieval Sultans and Mughal rulers as well as a signage of the road named after Safdar Hashmi - theatre activist and martyr who fearlessly opposed communal and fundamentalist forces of all hues.

900 Homes Uprooted without Notice in Delhi Slum, Party Takes up Cause of Homeless

IT took no more than a few hours for about 900 slum dwellings to be pulled down last month at Rangpur Pahadi in south Delhi, the swiftness and suddenness of the action catching the thousands of residents of the settlement off-guard and leaving them with little recourse for justice in a case where the court itself was ignored by Delhi government officials as they carried out their demolition drive.

CPI(M) Rally Protests Burning of Church in East Delhi

HUNDREDS of activists from different areas of the national capital participated in a rally organised by the Delhi state committee of CPI(M) to protest the burning of a church in East Delhi’s Dilshad Garden. The protest rally began at Vithalbhai Patel House and marched towards the Home Ministry but it was stopped by police at the Krishi Bhawan roundabout. The rally was converted into a public meeting presided by Party secretariat member K M Tiwari.

CPI(M), CPI Delegation Visits Riot-Hit Areas In Trilokpuri

A JOINT delegation of CPI(M) and CPI leaders visited Trilok Puri in East Delhi on October 28. They met the local residents of the area affected during the recent communal violence which started on the night of Diwali. Trilokpuri is a resettlement colony in East Delhi. Tension has been brewing here for more than a month on some pretext or the other. The last has been the Jagran, right opposite a mosque a little before Dussehra. This led to tension which turned into a riot on Diwali.

DELHI: Dastardly Attempt by RSS-BJP to Foment Communal Violence in Bawana

THE RSS-BJP is notorious for using religious festivals to foment communal tension and violence. This has once again been proved by their communal machinations in Bawana Resettlement Colony in Delhi on the eve of Eid al - Adha. This colony is composed of those urban poor who were uprooted from the Yamuna Pushta in 2002. A significant portion of its population is comprised of people belonging to the Muslim minority.
