DELHI: RSS Attempts to Whip-up Communal Violence
THE Delhi state committee of CPI(M) in a statement issued on September 9, has strongly condemned the communal violence unleashed by the RSS and its supporters in Bhalaswa North-West Delhi. In the past two months one person, Rathore of local RSS unit is trying to whip-up communal tension in Bhalaswa colony. For this he is resorting to loud clappings and singing over loudspeakers as and when Aazan is said. Yesterday, a group of women from minority community went to the organisers of singing and requested them to resume their song once the Aazan is over. In reply, the women were beaten up, verbally abused and stoned, which caused grievous injuries to several of them.
A delegation led by CPI(M) Delhi state secretariat member Asha Sharma along with local committee members Harpal Tyagi and Vipin Kumar and the local branch secretary of Bhalaswa, Basudev Prasad and Swaroop Vihar branch secretary, Dilip Jha visited the violence affected area. People in the area attested that the women were beaten up by the RSS goons in the area and also that the actual perpetrators of communal violence were RSS people.
The role of the local police was shocking. It refused to get the medical examination of the injured women done. Neither the FIR was registered. The women were asked to sit late night at local thana. When the family members came inquiring about the women they were also abused by the local police.
A CPI(M) delegation accompanied these women to DCP North-West district. The delegation was led by Asha Sharma, Sidheshwar Shukla, CPI(M) Delhi state committee member and other members of the local Committee. DCP refused to meet the delegation on the plea that he does not speak to any political party. Later on, he consented to meet the aggrieved women alone. During the meeting, he threatened the women and refused to lodge FIR and any medical examination done. Instead he advised the women to reach an understanding with their attackers with mediation of the local thana. The DCP’s behaviour is highly condemnable and does not take into account the sensibilities of aggrieved minority women.
CPI(M) therefore demands that:
1) The medical examination of injured women be immediately done.
2) FIR against perpetrators of communal violence in Bhalaswa be registered.
3) Immediate arrest of all those responsible for communal provocations and beating up of minority women.
4) Full proof protection of minorities in this area.
5) Action against police personnel conniving with perpetrators of communal violence.
