Condemn This Terror

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), now in session at New Delhi, has issued the following statements on November 14, 2015.

THE Central Committee of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the terror attacks at least at six places in Paris that have already claimed over 145 innocent lives. The recent spate of terror attacks in Baghdad, Beirut and now Paris appear to be related to US/NATO military interventions.

The Central Committee of the CPI(M) deeply mourns the death of innocent people in these terror attacks and condemns such barbaric terror.

Left Parties’ Nationwide Campaign from Dec 1-6 Against Communal Hate Offensive

The six Left Parties met on November 10 at Ajoy Bhavan, New Delhi. CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML), RSP, Forward Bloc and SUCI leaders participated in the meeting. The meeting was attended by Sitaram Yechury, Prakash Karat, S Ramachandran Pillai, CPI(M); S Sudharkar Reddy, A B Bardhan, D Raja (CPI); Dipankar Bhattacharjee, CPI(ML); G Devarajan (AIFB); Abani Roy (RSP); Krishna Chakraborthy and Pran Sharma (SUCI(C) ). The meeting issued the following statement.

On Bihar Election Results

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on November 8, 2015.

THE CPI(M) congratulates the people of Bihar who have given a resounding defeat to the BJP alliance in the assembly elections. They have rejected the rank communal campaign conducted by the BJP, led by the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah duo with divisive issues like cow and beef and the bogey of reservations for minorities.

People’s Welfare Front Emerges, Providing Electorate a Pro-People Alternative

ON November 2, at a function held in Thaayakam, the headquarters of the Marumalarchchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) in Chennai, the leaders of MDMK, CPI(M), CPI and the Viduthalai Chiruththaikal Katchi (VCK) released the common minimum programme (CMP) of the alliance of the four parties which will contest the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu in 2016 jointly.

Sharpen Communal Polarisation

ONCE again, the pen-pushers of the Modi government are busy churning out theories seeking to trivialise the rabid growth of communal and other forms of intolerance in the country. Such media moguls, particularly in the electronic media, have been advancing the old `worn out theory’, once again, of a `fringe’ as opposed to the `core’. The country is being misled that it is a fringe that is responsible for this menacingly growing intolerance and that the `core’ is not responsible. `The law and order machinery needs to control the fringe’. The RSS/BJP are, hence, not responsible!

Scientists Raise Voice Against Assault on Reason & Scientific Temper

 

The Indian Constitution in Article 51 A (h) demands, as a part of the fundamental duties of the citizens, that we '...develop the scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform'. Unfortunately, what we are witnessing instead is the active promotion of irrational and sectarian thought by important functionaries of the government.

Punish ‘Moral Policing’

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), now in session at Delhi, has issued the following statement on October 28.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the Hindutva elements who sought to stir up trouble with the allegation of “beef” being served in the canteen at Kerala House in New Delhi.  Firm action should be taken against them. 

Remove VK Singh from Union Cabinet

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on October 24, 2015

THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly condemns the remarks by Gen. (retd) VK Singh, minister of state for external affairs comparing the burning alive of two dalit children in Faridabad to stoning of a dog.
