THE Students Federation of India (SFI) organised a successful three days long school for its activists in the Hindi speaking states was successfully in Chandigarh from June 3 to 5. A total of 91 activists from 10 states participated in the school which was first such exercise after a similar school in Delhi in 2007. Spread over five sessions, the school covered Marxist philosophy, current political situation, identity politics, organisation, and educational policy framework.
ON June 7, leaders of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) made a scathing attack on the ruinous policies being pursued by both the Central and the Haryana state governments while holding these responsible for indebtedness of the peasantry. The occasion was a mass rally of the peasant masses in Hissar when the Central Kisan Council of AIKS held its meeting here.

THE All India Agricultural Workers Union (AIAWU) has condemned the blatant attempts in the last few days of Trinamul Congress leaders, and of the gangs of armed hoodlums on motorcycles led by them, to terrorise the peasants engaged in contesting in the panchayat elections in West Bengal.
On June 13, 2013, four left oriented organisations of women submitted the following memorandum to M K Narayanan, the governor of West Bengal, regarding the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, particularly in relation to the safety and security of women in the state.

A 17-MEMBER Venezuela Solidarity Committee (VSC) was formally constituted in New Delhi on June 12, 2013. The meeting was attended by A B Bardhan, Prakash Karat, Sudhakar Reddy, Debabrata Biswas, G Devrajan, Achin Vanaik, Ravi Roy, Nilotpal Basu and Pallab Sengupta. The committee was formed with the participant members with this understanding that it would be a broadbased committee by accommodating more members from different sections of society. The next meeting of the committee will be held at Ajoy Bhavan on July 19 evening.
A five-member CPI(M) delegation headed by Prakash Karat, general secretary, is visiting China for a week starting from June 16, 2013. The visit is at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
The other members of the delegation are: A K Padmanabhan (Polit Bureau member), Jogendra Sharma (Central Secretariat member), P Madhu and Rama Das (Central Committee members).
