UP: Oppressive and killer Yogi raj

OPPRESSION and killing innocent people has become a gauntlet of Yogi rule in UP. On the one hand rapists, rioters and murderers aligned to the BJP are allowed to roam scot-free, on the other, tremendous repression is mounted on the dalits, backwards, women and especially the Muslim minority in the state of UP. There is no limit to the hate against the Muslims and the protesters who were protesting against the CAA and the proposed NRC.The initial protests in the state took place in Aligarh Muslim University(AMU).

Demonetisation and the Question of Bank Credit

THE demonetisation of currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denomination in November 2016 suddenly brought a large amount of cash to the coffers of the banks. Since the banks had to pay interest on the deposits that the public was forced to make with them, they also had to use this cash in a manner that would earn them some income; otherwise its lying idle in their tills would erode their profitability.

Immediately Withdraw NRC/NPR

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on December 21THE government of India must immediately announce the withdrawal of the NRC/NPR process.Ten state chief ministers, outside of the north eastern states, have already opposed the implementation of the NRC in their states. More are likely to follow.  In this situation, the central government’s obduracy is not acceptable.The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) appeals to the people to continue the protests peacefully against the anti-constitutional Citizenship Amendment Act and the connected NRC/NPR.

General Statement of the Meerut Accused

EIGHTEEN communists among the accused in the Meerut Conspiracy Case decided to address a general statement to the court elaborating the principles for which they are fighting. The general statement originally a document running over 400 pages was formally introduced by RS Nimbkar on December 2, 1931 and completed on January 18, 1932. SA Dange, gave a separate statement, as he was not a member of the Communist Party at that time (suspended from the Party for indiscipline).

Modi Claims His Government is Digital; Why is He Shutting Down the Internet?

MODI has been claiming that his government has become transparent with all its data and services now being on the internet. If this is true, why is his government shutting down the internet? In 2018, and in 2019, India is responsible for almost 70 per cent of all estimated 196 such globally documented internet shutdowns. As we shall see, Pakistan is next, but is way behind – it has only 12 shutdowns compared to our 134!
