AIKS to Protest against RCEP

THE All India Kisan Sabha, in a statement issued on October 11, has strongly opposed the move of Narendra Modi government to sign Regional Comprehensive Economic Pact (RCEP) neglecting the interests of the small and middle farmers and working class of India. If India becomes partner in RCEP, the agriculture as well as the domestic economy will face its detrimental impact. The Indian markets will be dumped with cheap industrial products from other countries and the diary sector will be heavily devastated.

NRC – A Divisive Game

DAY in and day out, Home Minister Amit Shah and other BJP leaders are declaring that a National Register of Citizens (NRC) has to be prepared for the whole country.  It is widely assumed by the public and even political parties that an NRC for the whole of India is being contemplated, when actually the NRC process has already been announced. 

ASSAM: AIDWA Holds its Eleventh State Conference

The 11th state conference of AIDWA, Assam was held from September 21-23, at Rangia, Kamrup, the historical place of mass movements. On this occasion, a public meeting was held on the 21st at the Eidgah Maidan. Around two thousand men and women participated in the public meeting which was presided over by Seema Biswas. The meeting started with a song by IPTA, Rangia. The purpose of the meeting was narrated by the state secretary, Niyati Barman.

MADHYA PRADESH: The Killing of Two Dalit Children

MORE than ten days had elapsed since the gruesome murder of two dalit children, Roshni (12) and Avinash (10) of the Balmiki community when the CPI(M) took out a rally October 5, demanding justice for their families. Since there is no Party unit in the district, comrades from Gwalior spent days here mobilising local people for the rally.  Many from Gwalior, especially AIDWA members also participated.

Rescind the Case of Sedition

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on October 6

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the decision to slap sedition cases against forty-nine prominent Indians who have great accomplishments in their respective fields for having written a letter to the prime minister opposing the rising campaigns of hate and violence leading to mass lynching.

Onward to Countrywide General Strike

Himachal Pradesh: Apple Producers to Protest on October 16

THE Himachal Kissan  Sabha an affiliate of the AIKS has decided to hold a strong protest demonstration on October 16 at Narkanda in Shimla district. The reasons for the protest are; (a) against the loot of the fruit commission agents who have not paid money to the apple growers of the region and (b) against the inept government of the state for not intervening in the market because of which the apple producers are forced for distress sale. People from adjoining places like Rampur, Nankhari, Kotgarh, Kumarsain, Nirmand, Ani, Karsog etc., shall participate in this demonstration.
