Comrade Narra Raghava Reddy

Comrade Narra Raghava Reddy, veteran Party leader, died on 10th April after prolonged illness, at the age of 92. He was elected as an MLA from Nakirekal constituency in Nalgonda district of present Telangana state for six times. He acted as the deputy leader and leader of the Party in the state assembly and always stood for the rights of people and championed the cause of the poor. He was elected to the state committee of the CPI(M) in 1971 and remained a member till his health permitted. He was imprisoned for four years during 1967 and in 1975.

Remembering Comrade P K Ganguly

IN Comrade P K Ganguly a trade union leader was born out of three currents of the movement – against ideological revisionism and trade union reformism; against drug multinationals and for country’s self-reliance in medicines and for trade union rights of the medical and sales representatives – entwined in a common movement in early 1970s. P K Ganguly was moulded in the fire of struggle and sacrifice under the guidance of Comrade B T Ranadive.

AIDWA Holds Public Hearing to expose Anti-people, Pro-corporate Budget

THE All India Democratic Women’s Association has organised a public hearing on April 27 to “Expose anti-people, pro-corporate budget” of the NDA government. The jury comprised Brinda Karat (patron, AIDWA and former Member of Parliament), Aruna Roy (MKSS, Rajasthan and former member of National Advisory Council), Indira Jaisingh (eminent Supreme Court lawyer and human right activist), and Prof Utsa Patnaik (Professor Emeritus, JNU).

THE Budget Session of Lok Sabha resumed on April 20. On the very first day, the government tabled the controversial land acquisition bill to replace the ordinance amid vociferous protests by the Opposition and subsequently walk-out.In the afternoon when the house reassembled, the Lok Sabha started with the pending discussion on agrarian crisis, initiated by Leader of CPI(M) in Lok Sabha P Karunakaran. Speaking on the issue, Sankar Prasad Datta said at present a situation like that of mid 60's has arisen in our country. The situation in the countryside has worsened.

Central Govt Employees to Go On Indefinite Strike from Nov 23, 2015

A MASSIVE rally of the central government employees was held on April 28, 2015 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, declaring that if no settlement is brought about on the 10-point charter of demands, the central government employees in all the de-departments of the Government of India will go on indefinite strike action from November 23, 2015.The rally was held under the chairmanship of M Raghavaiah, general secretary, National Federation of Indian Railwaymen. Shiv Gopal Mishra, convenor of the National Joint Council of Action of Central Government Employees (NJCA) conducted the proceedings.

21st Congress of the CPI(M) Adopts Draft Review on Political-Tactical Line

ON the first day of the 21st Congress of the CPI(M) on April 14, the main agenda of the delegate session which began in the afternoon, was the Draft Review Report on the Political-Tactical Line (PTL). Peasants March to Parliament on May 5

THE countrywide joint struggle of the peasantry against the Land Acquisition Ordinance is the first largest political ordeal faced by the eleven month old National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. The entire parties in the opposition have been cooperating and taking up independent agitations over this issue based movement.
