TN: CPI(M) Holds Seminar on Corruption and Communalism

THE CPI(M) Tamil Nadu state committee organised a special seminar titled 'Rs 7.5 Lakh Crore Corruption of the Modi Government, CAG Report, and Communal Hate Politics' in Chennai on October 19. Prof Venkatesh Athreya, in outlining the seminar's agenda, emphasised that under the corporate-Hindutva rule of Prime Minister Modi, the people of India are experiencing escalating hardships every day. He pointed out that the Modi-Adani relationship serves as a central aspect of this nexus.

ON October 24, it became clear to the United Nations (UN) that the sustained bombardment of Gaza – which had already killed 6,500 people (including at least 35 UN employees) – had made this part of Palestine unviable for human life. Over two million people live in this slim section of land on the Mediterranean Sea. Since 1948, the refugees who live here have relied on UN assistance, with the United Nations building an entire agency (UNRWA) in 1949 for that purpose.

Protests against Israel’s Attack on Gaza

AT the call of Left parties – CPI, CPI(M), and CPI(ML), hundreds of people gathered at Freedom Park in Bangalore to protest against the Israel’s bombing on Gaza killing thousands of Palestinians including women and children.Bangalore police had refused permission for the protest. But people gathered defying the police ban and proceeded to hold the demonstration. Police arrested the demonstrators and took them to City Armed Reserve (South) at Adugodi.

J&K: Government Must Concede ASHA Workers Demands

ASHA workers, who essentially act as backbone of health structure in rural areas of the region, are compelled to work on paltry emoluments. The government has totally neglected them. They have been fighting for better remuneration over the last many years but to no avail, thus compelling them to resort to strikes and dharnas. Recently the workers were on protest in every district of Jammu and Kashmir.The senior officers of the health department including NHM officials met the delegations of respective ASHA workers unions.

ISRO’s Successful Test of Crew Escape System

ONE thing that has always been known about human space flight is that it is very dangerous. So far, 19 astronauts or cosmonauts (we will use the former term here for simplicity) have died in space accidents, which is a relatively high 3 per cent approximately compared to other forms of transportation. Significantly, only 3 of these fatal crewed space flights had flown above the Karman line, symbolically marking the edge of space at 100 km above the earth. Most fatalities have occurred during the launch phase or during re-entry, especially the former.

The meeting was hosted by the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) in Izmir, Turkey. The meeting was attended by 121 representatives of 68 parties from 54 countries and 7 parties, who could not attend for various reasons, also sent their greetings.
