Bengal's Unyielding Demand for Justice: A Tidal Wave of Protest

NOT even the festive spirit of Durga Puja could overshadow the burning demand for justice in Kolkata. Left-wing student, youth and women’s organisations staged a massive rally in Dharmatala, braving heavy rains and police restrictions, to declare that the fight for justice will continue unabated. The rally, held on September 26th  afternoon, saw a massive turnout of young protesters who defied police orders and barricades.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, All India Forward Bloc and Revolutionary Socialist Party have issued the following statement on September 26, 2024October 7, marks the completion of one year of Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza. In the name of retaliating against the Hamas for the latter’s attack within Israel on October 7, last year, the Israeli armed forces have conducted a brutal and indiscriminate attack on Palestinians in Gaza.

The Global South Opposes the War in Ukraine

SINCE the Russian military entered Ukraine, there have been six United Nations General Assembly resolutions about the ensuing war (ES-11/1 to ES-11/6). The voting record of the Global South countries, particularly the 54 African states, on these resolutions is notable. In only one resolution, which was about the referendum held in Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts (ES-11/4), did most African states (thirty of them) vote against Russia, with 24 states abstaining (none voted for the legality of the Russian referendum).
