AIKS Condemns Police Action on Farmers

THE All India Kisan Sabha condemns the unprecedented use of brute force by the police at the behest of the Narendra Modi led BJP government on peasants and workers protesting against the anti-farmer, anti-worker Acts. AIKS demands the unconditional release of all the arrested protesters and for the restoration of right to protest. It is also significant that the arrests in Delhi have happened when the protest had been permitted by the authorities. This attack on democratic rights ironically is taking place on the Constitution Day.

SUCCESSFUL GENERAL STRIKE ON NOVEMBER 26: CITU Salutes Toiling Masses

THE Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) congratulates the hundreds of millions of workers and peasants across the country for rising as one to protest against the atrocious attacks of the Modi led BJP government, on their, rights, lives and livelihoods and against the anti-worker, anti-people and anti-national policies. In a statement issued on November 26, it said that over 25 crore workers, agricultural workers and other sections of toiling people who produce the wealth of the country, struck work.

Surprising and Disappointing Ruling on Hate Speech Case

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member, Brinda Karat issued a statement on August 27, on the dismissal of the hate speech  case against Anurag Thakur and Parvesh Verma, by the magistrate court. She termed the ruling as surprising and disappointing. She said, “We had filed a complaint  with Delhi police in January against the hate speeches made by BJP  leaders Anurag Thakur and Parvesh Verma and asked for filing of a FIR under relevant provisions including Sec 153 of the IPC.

EVEN as the NIA has taken up investigation into the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case, unfounded allegations are being made so as to shield the real culprits, by creating a smoke screen. The people will realise that both the BJP and the UDF are only trying to further their vested political interests even amidst this pandemic, that too at the cost of people’s lives.

Rollback Fuel Price Hike: AIRTWF

THE All India Road Transport Workers’ Federation (AIRTWF) condemned the union government’s decision to hike the prices of petrol and diesel. “This is for the third time the union government has hiked the prices of petroleum since March. On May 5, the government enhanced the Excise Duty at Rs 10 per litre on petrol and Rs 13 per litre on diesel. Now, again the enhancement is almost Rs 1 per litre. This is nothing but looting the people,” the AIRTWF said in a statement released on June 9 and demanded the government to rollback the hike forthwith.
