The following is the text of the message sent to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), on November 11.

THE Communist Party of India (Marxist) condemns the sustained interference of imperialist forces in the internal affairs of Cuba and reiterates its solidarity with socialist Cuba and its fighting people. People of Cuba, led by the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) overcame over these decades, many imperialist plots to destabilise the socialist country.

The US imposed one of the most vicious economic blockades on Cuba that is in place for more than six decades. Cuban people were forced to undergo intense hardships because of this blockade. They had overcome the Special Period of the 1990s, by collectively resisting such attacks and defending socialist system.

In spite of the debilitating economic sanctions, Cuba ensured that all its people have free and universal access to education and medical facilities. It developed its own vaccine candidates to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic and now 100 per cent of its above 2 years population has received at least one dose of vaccination. Cuba also offered its medical personnel and services to many countries in their fight against the pandemic. This is a reflection of the humanitarian and internationalist character of Cuba, which received warm accolades from around the world. The way Cuba tackled the pandemic and supported other countries stood in stark contrast to that of many advanced developed countries like the US, UK and Brazil.

While Cuba was striving to overcome the pandemic and bring its economy back on track, US is using this as an opportunity to destabilise Cuba. It is indulging in its age-old game plan by funding and backing various kinds of counter-revolutionary elements. All these attempts are bound to fail.

The CPI(M) denounces all imperialist attempts to destabilise Cuba and reiterates its fraternal solidarity.
