Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationally televised address to the country on November 19, 2021 to coincide with the Guru Nanak Jayanti, agreeing to repeal all the three hated farm laws was a stinging defeat for all of them.

General Council of CITU: Get Ready for the Two Days Countrywide General Strike!

THE first meeting of CITU general council concluded with a clarion call to the working class of India to get ready for the two days’ country wide general strike called by the joint platform of trade unions from the national convention held in the national capital Delhi on November 11, 2021. The national convention decided that the general strike will be held during the budget session of parliament. The exact dates will be announced soon.The CITU general council, which was originally scheduled to be held in Kolkata from May 30, 2020, had to be deferred due to the countrywide lockdown.

She did not look at caste or religion during her struggle as she considered that real patriotism and nationalism was in mobilising women, peasants, workers and the toiling masses.

Tripura: CPI(M) Protests Police Inaction

THE CPI(M) staged a protest in front of the Tripura Police headquarters on November 15, demanding the arrest of BJP-backed miscreants. Party state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury sharply criticised the role of some high-ranking officers, including the director general of police. He made it clear that in the last three-and-a-half years, democracy has been undermined by the incompetence and callousness of the state government and some high-ranking officers of the police department. The rule of law is completely doomed.

Telangana: Memorial Stupas in Memory of Comrades Kunja Bojji and Sunnam Rajaiah

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat unveiled the memorial stupas erected for Comrades Kunja Bojji and Sunnam Rajaiah, ex-MLAs of CPI(M) who lost their lives to coronavirus last year. Both the leaders were outstanding and dedicated party leaders of the agency areas and worked for the welfare of tribals and other peoples in both the Telugu states, she said.  Speaking at the memorial meeting on November 11, Brinda Karat said that the real tribute to the leaders would be for everyone to walk in the path laid by them.

Tamil Nadu State Level Convention against LIC IPO

THE Tamil Nadu State Special Convention against LIC IPO was held on November 14 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru who was instrumental in the creation of the public sector which acted as a backbone of the development of economy in India. The convention was conducted by the South Zone Insurance Employees’ Federation involving the eight divisional units of Life Insurance and three regional units of General Insurance in Tamil Nadu.G Meenakshisundaram, Madurai division president of Insurance Corporation Employees’ Union (ICEU), hoisted the flag of the organisation.

Preparations for Peasant-Worker Actions

HECTIC nationwide preparations are on by peasants and workers across India to make the nationwide actions on and around November 26 a resounding success. November 26, 2021 marks the completion of one year of the historic farmers’ struggle, the first anniversary of the nationwide strike by the working class, and also the anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. On that day, massive congregations will be held at all the Delhi borders, and also throughout the country, at the joint call of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the Central Trade Unions (CTUs).
