PB Hails Struggles of Various Sections of People

CPI(M)  Polit Bureau met on October 2, 2017 and has issued the following statement THE Polit Bureau hails the struggles of the kisans in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh which is now spreading to various other parts of the country. The Modi government must immediately implement its election promise of announcing a minimum support price of one and a half times the production cost as also a loan waiver.

Polit Bureau Communique: Growing Resistance and Struggles

CPI(M) Polit Bureau met in New Delhi on September 6-7. It has issued the following statement on September 7.DISMAL ECONOMIC SCENEAll the latest data coming in show that the economic slowdown has accelerated after demonetisation and the threat of recession is looming ahead. The estimated GDP growth in the quarter of the current financial year i.e., April to June is 5.7 per cent. The GDP growth rate has fallen four quarters in a row. The index of industrial production for this quarter shows a growth rate of only 1.8 per cent.

STATE ASSEMBLY ELECTIONSTHE CPI(M) along with other Left parties are contesting the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Manipur.  In Uttar Pradesh, the CPI(M) has fielded candidates in 26 constituencies; in Uttarakhand, it has fielded candidates in six constituencies; in Punjab, it has fielded in 12 constituencies; and in Manipur, it is contesting two seats. The CPI(M) along with Left parties are contesting elections with the primary objective of projecting the Left policy alternative before the people.

It has issued the following statement: WITHDRAWAL OF RS 1000/500 NOTES: CRISIS OF GIGANTIC PROPORTIONS The Polit Bureau heard reports from various states about the effects of the withdrawal of the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes. The reports indicate that there has been a total disruption of the payments and settlements system and has impacted all citizens in one way or the other. In the rural areas, the crisis is much more grave. Markets are closed in various places.

It has issued the following statement on July 31, 2016PROVIDE RELIEFTO THE FLOOD AFFECTED The Polit Bureau took note of the serious havoc caused by the floods that have occurred in various parts of the country, especially in east and northern parts of the country, owing to heavy rains. Assam and Bihar are the worst affected. Reports of heavy loss of lives, displacement of several lakhs and rendering tens of thousands homeless have come in.

It has issued the following statement on September 27, 2015. PLENUM ON ORGANISATIONThe Polit Bureau discussed the broad outlines of the contents of the Report and the Resolution for the Organisational Plenum to be held from December 27-31, 2015 at Kolkata.The replies to the detailed questionnaire by the Party Centre to the state committees have been received and the documents for the plenum will be prepared incorporating these as well.

THE Polit Bureau discussed the report submitted by the three study groups appointed by the Central Committee earlier on the impact of liberalisation on different classes of people in: (a) rural India and agrarian sector; (b) on urban India and middle classes; and (c) socio-economic conditions of the working class.
